Do any of your kids have imaginary friends. I think it is a really facinating developmental phase that seems to coincide with monsters under the bed, story telling, creative play and nightmares. I find it really interesting that they usually seem to know that they are making it up as they are going along and that it is all a bit of a game. I remember the same thing with my little brother - he was always quite happy if I joined in with the fantasy and made it up as I went along. My son's imaginary friend is froggy (a frog!).

No friends yet, but he is carrying on conversations with his toys and making them talk to each other. He is 3 and a half.

On an off note, my imaginary friend was a dragon named Igor.

Ditto! My dd doesn't have an imaginery friend but does talk to her toys and makes them talk and she will also run around the house with "dora" and "diego". It's so cute. And she'll tell me she's resuring animals with diego. lol

Aww that's so cute froggy. I love your avatar by the way too!

My kids never had an imaginery friend per say but the pretend their animals are playing with them, or if they have a store there are pretend customers, a restaurant has guests etc, I just love to sit out of sight and watch them play like that with almost nothing. Pretend everything food, menus, shopping carts. My daughter always serves me pretend pink ice cream when I am tucking her in her bed at night.

You are so right this stage is a joy.
