I am trying to figure this out and all the calculators I find dont figure my cycle length. So here are my stats.
I have a period every 2 monthes (not kidding, they are that long).
So that would be a 60ish day cycle, right?
The calc's I find only go up to a 35 days.
So how do I figure when I would O if the calc's dont go that high?
I started on October 8th and went a whole week, which was weird I usually only go about 5 days, so ended on the 15th.
I started the opk's on the 17th. I bought the 20 test box.
I have been testing for 9 days and still no lh surge.
But I still need to figure out when I do to an estimate. Sometimes I can tell with the "eggy" consistency mucus. But not always. But I have never charted it either, which is why I am now since I am ttc.
So how do they figure the cycles?
This is what I found on the calc's.

On the 28 day cycle O would be on: the 21st.
On the 35 day cycle O would be on: the 28th.

I just dont get how they figure it. I dont like having such a irregular cycle. But I have been this way since I first started having a period.

So if anyone could please help me figure this out, I would appreciate it. I hope I O before I run out of test's, I have 11 more.
Thanks, Nicole! (please excuse any bad spelling I am typing fast)

Thanks!
I wonder if they have that book at the library?
I never did all this stuff the first 2 times. I just went with what happened. Now I am into all this trying. I have never tried the basal temp record keeping.
I guess I need to now.
I am learning so much from just reading on here. Everyone is so knowledgable.

Hi Nicole! and welcome! I used Fertility Friend to help me track my basal body temps (BBT) when TTC this little peanut. I can honestly say: I KNEW NOTHING! When you sign up at their website (it's free), they send you a 'lesson' on charting each day. I think there are 21 lessons - so a lesson a day for 3 weeks. This was great for me...a little bit of info each day and I learned sooo much! I'm not really a book reader, but everyone on here (practically) swears by TCOYF that Esther mentioned. We're here to help to (when we can)!

I finaly found a calculator that would do my cycle length.
About.com. So this is what they said...

NOV 23rd.

So tomorrow I will go get a basal thermometer and start charting right away. And I may be buying more opk's also.

I read to test at 2pm and I have been testing at 7pm every night. So tomorrow I will start testing at 2.

And since I am a big reader, I will try to get to the library tomorrow and look for this book. First I will log into their site and see if they have it listed.

Thanks again everyone! I will keep you posted!

Hey Nicole...welcome to temping! :-D

First, I would be pretty sure that with cycles that long, you are either NOT ovulating, which we call anovulatory cycles, or you are Oing so late that your egg quality isn't going to be good. Do you have PCOS?

Now with that said, I had crazy cycles for years, I just thought I was "lucky" to not have periods as often as others. I did get pg after a VERY long cycle, but that ended in m/c. Because of that m/c I found out that I have PCOS, and all my hormones that make my cycle regulate were all off. The longer you have PCOS the worse it gets and TTC can get harder and harder. I hope you don't have this, but do a search on it if you don't know what it is.

I also agree with charting on fertility friend. I have used their website for years. I was blessed by someone on here, they gave me their membership, but if you don't care about the "community" or question asking, you can just chart for free. :-)

Oh, another thing, if you do have PCOS, the OPKs can be deceiving. I guess what usually happens is that people with PCOS have a higher level of LH than regular woman, so you can get high readings when you are not actually oing. I bought a 20 pack off the internet to see what the read at different times in my cycle since I am doing clomid, and so far I don't have a surge. I did get a TAD bit darker line today, so who knows, I may actually see a surge on one and it be real!

If you have any questions that may have been brought up by my post, please feel free to ask. The ladies here have good information!

Keep us updated!
Blessings,
Amber

I read up on that pcos. I think I may have that.
I took that Fertilaid stuff once for a month and I had a normal period, since its suppose to make you regular. I started taking it again this cycle so I wonder if it will help again.
I guess I am going to have to find a dr. here once we get our insurance active. But I am in to natural stuff if I can take that instead of pharmacy drugs. I found a site with some natural supplements and some progesterone(sp) cream. I wonder if that stuff really works.
I first had a period in 5th grade, and since day one I have had these irregular periods. I have low thyroid which is what I was told. But since I read some of those other symptoms of the pcos, I have them.
I did have a vaginal ultrasound to check for cycts on my overies when my youngest was 6 mos. old because we though I had them but I didnt have any.
But you know thinking of it, the low thyroid has alot of the same symptoms. But I think it would be a good idea to have the blood work done anyway to see.
Thanks for the info. I never really knew what pcos was, I had only heard others mention it.

HI Amber,
I am glad you told me about this condition, the pcos.
I am now on pregestrone cream therapy for a while.
I am now on my first "normal" cycle. Have never had a regular cycle, well except for when I was younger and on birthcontrol pills to make them regular.
I have my hopes up that this works for my ovulation.
I thank you thank you and thank you so much.
I am also changing my eating lifestyle. That is always a good thing.
I also have to get back on thyroid therapy ( it is better than it was when I started it 10 years ago) and since I am a person who likes natural things I have to find a Dr. who will prescribe the natural t4. My old Dr. does not like natural things, hum.
Everything else with me is normal and working fine.

Well, I will keep you all posted.
Thanks again!
