View Full Version : ugh!!
PianoMama 10-26-2007, 01:03 PM The last 2 days I have eaten breakfast and felt fine (no queasiness) only to be hit hard by the ickies (as Tara calls them) and lost it all suddenly! I had cold cereal yesterday and then a bagel with cream cheese this morning.
I'm frustrated.
Wishing this were over already...
savedbygrace 10-26-2007, 01:30 PM O hon' I am so sorry you have the ickies! I have a hard time finding things to eat in the morning, maybe you should try fruit in the morning? Hope it is over for you soon.
~Tara~ 10-26-2007, 02:17 PM What did you have on the days you got icky after eating?
*was a bit confused*
Cold cereal will get me. It's the milk. I seem to have some kind of pregnancy induced lactose intolerance. I know...weird! But it's been 3 pregnancies now! We don't do a lot of cow milk around here anyway. Just an occasional "ooo I want cold cereal" by me or hub which lasts a week or two then we're done. And I do fine during those times. But when pg..I tend to WANT cold cereal but I can't do it. Even with the tiniest bit of milk, I get icky afterwards.
So, I had switched to soy milk with one of the pregnancies. That helped a bit. Quite a bit actually. Just, I didn't care for the smell/taste of it. One pregnancy I dealt with that better than the other. The one, I just couldn't do it. I had to forego my cold cereal. :~(
I end up indulging in things like canned cinnamon rolls and the like LOL That was this morning.
Bagels only 'hit' with me once in a while when pg. They'll work for a week or two then that's it. No more. And, sadly, I'm in the 'no' part right now with this one.
Toast with a bit of all fruit jelly works sometimes.
Eggs.
I think I've gotten back out of my eggs era now too. I was on a roll for a week or two. This week, blech, don't like the smell.
Smoothies and peanut butter crackers work from time to time. They're my multi-purpose meal. Quite often a lunch. Or a snack. And have been breakfast several times as well. Fruit and a hint of protein. And the salt. It works.
What about just dry cereal? Cheerios or Kix are simple ones that are LOVELY dry. I suppose you could eat any of 'em dry, but, those work especially well.
Don't forget to keep some crackers at your bedside. A glass of water too. So you have something to grab during the night and first thing upon waking. Snack a couple of bites...before you have the chance to get hungry. Give yourself a moment to get up and then go try some 'real' breakfast.
Hopefully this was just a fluke and you're not *now* getting the official ickies. :~(
I can't have milk either, it makes me sick to my stomach, and so far, I haven't had any real "ickies" yet; having milk though has made me come close.
I was REALLY sick with my twins and I could NOT eat first thing in the morning, I just had to make myself throw up, get it over with and follow THAT with a nice heavy carb, like a *couple* of bagels with butter (light), cream cheese was too heavy for me. That was always the biggest meal of the day for me, and it was all I could really handle.
I tried nabbing chips when I could, those actually made me feel better (maybe it was all in my head?) ::snort:: Anything Carb-y made me feel better, really. Ugh... I hope your ickies pass soon!
PianoMama 10-26-2007, 09:54 PM What did you have on the days you got icky after eating?
Yesterday morning I had cold cereal, Quaker Oat Squares, with milk. This morning I had a bagel with cream cheese and a frappacino. (hey, that's what I was craving!) =)
Hopefully this was just a fluke and you're not *now* getting the official ickies. :~(
I've had the ickies since the first day of week 7. It's been terrible. Some days I'm totally fine (I say totally, but I mean like 90%) and other days I'm like 90% terrible! I *know* everyone says that it means the baby is healthy and for that I am VERY grateful. It's just hard, really hard. I hate complaining about it because there are so many people out there that would give anything to be pregnant!
I'm not *totally* sure it's milk/dairy because the rest of the day I crave a glass of cold milk. Tonight I drank 2 full glasses.
Jenny, I think I'm just gonna have to do what you did, wait to get sick and get it over with, then eat something. I was doing that for a while, but I figured if I could get something done, than all would be well. Guess not!
PianoMama 10-26-2007, 10:00 PM I tried editing to fix the spelling of your name, Jennie, but it's not working! sorry...
~Tara~ 10-26-2007, 10:19 PM Darn that unpredictable pregnancy belly stuff eh?
I know what you mean too about complaining. I have the same thoughts/feelings. Just...argh! I feel so stinkin' miserable :~(
Praying the ickies let up for both of us SOON so we can just 'be pregnant' and really rejoice in that!! *hugs*
PianoMama 10-26-2007, 11:08 PM Thanks for your encouragement, T! Nice to know that someone else is feeling the same emotionally as I am...I too am looking forward to 'just being pregnant'!
Cheers to our wee little ones!!
((hugs back))
