The following link will give you much more information but I wanted you ladies to read this as we all have children and need to know of this type of movie. In Dec. of this year a movie is to be released called the Golden Compass and is directed towards children. It is about anti-God as you can get. There are a couple of big name stars who are in this movie....Nicole Kidman and Sam Elliot......Here is the link you decide.

Thank you so much for posting this!!! I read this, looked at the movie trailer than, and am worried. One I bought this book for my son years ago, now I am so very thankful he never read it. I will now look for that book and dispose of it, never knowing the intentions I bought it.

Now this thread has me curious I wonder is there a way to find out how many children's books are written by athiets. I don't know why but this really concerns me. I am careful with what my children read, they love to read, but this makes me wonder am I careful enough!

Really thank you for posting this the movie trailer looks pretty innocent too, glad I have this site printed now to back myself up. Because I know I will be frowned upon by other family members thinking I'm overprotecting my kids not letting them see this.

I always wondered why my mom read EVERY book she ever gave us...I guess I know why now. Hmmm...

"In a world run by witches," the preview begins... OOO, I checked this out last night, but was too tired to post about it. I watched the trailer and was horrified. I became even more disturbed about the movie as I browsed the movie's website... VERY appealing to children... several recognizable voices and/or faces.

Alas, the WORST thing I saw were the daemons. (EEK!) According to the site, a person's soul lives outside of the body, and is each person's daemon. To make it worse, the way daemons is written, clearly looks to read as "demons;" the A is attached to the E...

Oh my, and the concept of the movie being evil destroying good? Christians and unbelievers alike... not the message kids need to hear.

Watched the trailer and if I didn't know it I would have thought it would be a movie like Narnia...especially since it is coming out Dec. 7th (I think thats what it said) The production company is the same one that made LOTR also so I know that is another point that could point this movie to be ok. Thanks SO much for the heads up....What a crazy movie to produce..but then again thats hollywood.

I found this site that was recommended on Richard Dawkins website/ messageboard. The link was listed under an athiest's post, wondering the same thing as you... except from the opposite side.

Alison, is that for christian books that you posted? My hubby installed this new program called web nanny to limit access for the children on the computer/internet and it won't let me access other part of that site except that page you have there, hmmm. Going to have to ask hubby how to override that for me for searches.

Anyway, yes looking at so we purchase christian authors is what I think you were saying right? I agree I would like to do it both sides actually.

No, no, no... that is a link for athiest children's books. No need to override. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

Alison, okay, geesh after reading those titles ha I got the distinct impression it was athiest. Oops sorry for the misunderstanding there. Hubby saw that site I had up there and was questioning me up and down. I was like relax honey I was looking info up on that horrible movie and wanted to be informed in both directions as far as authors. He than understood and said "gosh what is this world coming to-- did you see those titles on there?!"

Its amazing/awful what is out there though, yikes scary, really scary sometimes.

Okay, not to offend but I found this comical this morning. I was looking for this link to check out a series that Raegan wants to read. When I clicked on the link the first book mention is "Why is Daddy a Democrat"

it gave me a good chuckle this morning!!!

I am not sure if I replyed to this before or not and I have not read anything on the link.

This movie is available to buy over here and I have been tempted to buy it just to see what it is like. I wud most likely let Sinead watch it as a movie is fiction and not true, I would make sure that she was aware of this and that I explained it to her.
