I'm going crazy! ARGH LOL All of a sudden it seems Abby doesn't want to lie down for 5 seconds to have her diaper changed. It's like she doesn't want her "playtime" interrupted KWIM? I have to deal with a tantrum EVERY time she needs to be changed. I can't give her anything that keeps her still. She just throws her toys away or whatever else I have tried to entertain her with. She just doesn't want to stop playing.

Has anyone else had this problem and how do you deal with it??!! I can't put her in Time Out when I have to change her and she wouldn't understand anyway. The only thing I can think of is to lightly smack her (this does work). But I don't like doing that.

I remember this as being one of the first things I "spanked" my son for- when he was still pretty young. It was just a tap on the leg, but it got the point across (he used to actually kick me during diaper changes) Where Abby's a bit older, maybe you could try setting a timer and when it dings, it's diaper time? I also remember doing the changes BEFORE something he wanted- "Let's change your diaper so we can go outside, or Let's change your diaper so you can have a snack, get ready for supper, etc...

Yes Abby actually kicks me when I'm changing her... I have to watch her because I'm pregnant I'm worried that she'll hurt baby... I know my tummy is pretty much padded LOL and that baby has protection. But I still worry KWIM

It doesn't seem to matter whether she is just sitting on the couch or playing or whatever... she just doesn't want to have her diaper changed. :?

I will definitely make sure I don't give her anything she wants before I change her. She is pretty obsessed with her Lego Duplo and Playdough right now :roll:

I would tempt them with a diaper change before doing something, eating, playing etc. And also a slight smack on the tooshie did work sometimes too.

Yeah I do that but she just doesn't care. I can bribe her with lollies or chocolate (I don't try that much ... since we hardly ever have those things here anyway LOL) and she still won't come to me or let me put her on the mat. She says "no" to everything LOL

This was one of the reasons I started the thread on diaper changes and was wondering if other moms had any ideas I hadn't tried yet.

There are advertisements, not sure if they have them in NZ, but diapers that you can tab like a regular diaper with baby laying down, or busy babies you just pull them on, you choose type of thing. I never tried them but it sure seemed tempting with an energetic 2 year old thats for sure.

The only thing we have here (I think) are the Huggies Pullups which are expensive but I think I'd still have to get her to lay down so I could clean her up properly... I don't know. When she has a dirty nappy I am fussy LOL and have to make sure there is no poopy left on her LOL :roll:





Thanks Renee. I am hoping this is just a phase and will pass fairly fast LOL The spanking seems to be the only thing I can do to keep her still...
