I was told that I should get a flu shot because I am pregs. Anyone else here this? I am not sure how comfortable I am getting a shot of anything while pregnant. Has anyone had one? Or not had one? I want to do what's best for the baby...
I also heard that my ds (11mos) should get one. Not sure about that...thoughts???

nope. no flu shots here. never. some are all for them, some are against them, you'll find they're like vax. you're either really for them or really against them.
It's a personal decision like that, but since you asked, I'm not for them.
I am with you, Kana. But sometimes dr's make it seem like it is really bad not to get one...

My doc recommended I get them with all of my pregnancies! Here I am on #4 and I've never had one! Never liked them anyway, so I figured, no reason to inject myself with them while I've got precious cargo. I never got anything more than a passing common cold or allergy through all of my pregnancies, but to each his own I guess. I wouldn't worry about it if you don't want to get one though.

That is strange. I have received a flu shot every year EXCEPT the year that I was preggo. That year the doctor said not to risk it.

I got with my first and...was teaching around EVERYTHING! Then not with my second because I was at home and just kept us in ALL freakin' winter! LOL...DEMAND a mercury-free one though if you get one!! They have them especially for preggo women! You'ed have to get it through your OB or family doc, regular flu shot clinics or the health departments don't carry the mercury free shots....

I never got one during pg. I heard you should, but didn't want to chance it. My dr never once urged me to get it or said I needed it. I'm going to get one this year so I don't give it to Landon. He's getting his first injection next week.

We don't do flu shots here either.... will probably never get flu shots again. I haven't gotten them with either pregnancy... We also selectively vax.

The *thing* about flu shots is that they guess at what type of flu is 'going around' that flu season. Then vaccinate accordingly. SO, theoretically you *could* get the vax then get a different type of flu anyway...
