Do you have a favorite Bible character? Maybe someone from the Bible who has a personality similar to yours, or went through something that you can really identify with, or someone that simply inspires you? Who is it, and why is that person your favorite?
I'll go first - about a year ago, I was reading Hebrews 11, the great Faith chapter, and I noticed Enoch was mentioned. It got me curious, because there's not much about Enoch in the Bible. But what is there, is amazing. The Bible says Enoch walked with God. To me, that makes it sound like Enoch had this daily, ongoing, relationship - it was simply part of who Enoch was - a very important part, a defining part. Then it says that Enoch did not die, he was simply taken to Heaven in some way that only God knows. I think God must have appreciated Enoch so much that He just wanted His friend Enoch up there in Heaven with Him!
This inspires me - I really want to have a close friendship with God. I want it to be a natural, everyday thing - yet something that is very special and important. I can easily try to depend on other stuff to make me happy, to try to fill my need for God - but Enoch reminds me that God is what is important, and a friendship with Him is really what I need.
