Hi all! I was just sitting down to a tasty bowl of Cream of Wheat (my favorite nighttime snack) when I noticed on the box good for infants. Could I start Nathan out on this when we start solids? It seems to have alot more nutrition than the rice cereal... but was wondering if there were wheat allergy concerns. What do you guys think?

Personally, I love it as well, but I wouldn't start mine on it right off the bat. The wheat allergy risk concerns me, so I'd rather play it safe and wait.
So funny, as I am eating a bowl while I type!!!! DS has is every morning with bananas in it but I just started last week and he is 10 mos old. It is good though!

also, if you have a child with protein allergy (ie: needing allimentum or nutramigen) it has soy oil in it and they can't tolerate it. (as does oatmeal, so rice is the only option in that situation)

It's fine to start your baby on cream of wheat only after going through rice cereal first. My doc told me to go through the suggested foods first to avoid them getting a wheat allergy by having it too soon. I did so with both my boys after learning my lesson with 1st born (a girl). She developed a wheat allergy from having it too soon, luckily she grew out of it. When I followed docs orders with my boys... everything worked out!

Wow Kana! Thanks for mentioning the allergy! My little guy was just about to start it because we love it here too...and he is on Nutramigen due to the soy/protein allergy!! Whew! You saved us!!
