DS woke up this morning with a horrible cough and runny nose. I don't think it warrants a trip to the doctor at this point. Wondering what would be good to give since he's 15mos old.

oh no pray he's feeling better soon..my daughter has terrible allergies so at that age i had would clean her room top to bottom with bleach water and rely on a humidifier for her comfort...i'm not big on medicines

I am one to hold off taking my children to the dr. unless some real concern is there too. I always worry about the over use of antibiotics. I have always heard infant pedicare decongestants are good but they never really helped my children. I would just use regular infant/childrens motrin at night.

With coughs I would suggest either a humidifier or vaporizer. My kids love the vaporizer and I have had more success with that too. When they are little like your son I would give my children more frequent warm baths during the day. It helped to cheer them up, plus remove all the dried on mucas, and soothe their cough a little.

Hope your son feels better soon. I thought children couldn't have allergies at this young of age, but I could be mistaken.

I found baby Vicks to be helpful, also saline drops applied with a cotton swab (when their noses would get "crusty") I have also used Tylenol cold plus cough (generic brand of course  )

Hmmm I used Dimetapp cough mixture but not sure at what age you can use that... I think it might be 2 years.

He is feeling a little better this morning. Still has the cough, but I think it is from drainage. It seemed to go away during the day when he was up and moving around. I did give him Tylenol cough and cold last night and ran his humidifier too. My dh has allergies really bad so I wonder if they got passed on?
