Saw this great article that talks about some of the common misconceptions people have about health and nutrition and provides a lot of good info - thought you all might enjoy reading:

I've been really straigtening myself out on the good and bad fats and feel like I'm starting to see some results and just keep a better eye out for myself. Let me know if you thought it was useful too! :D[/url]

Good stuff, we all need to be more health savvy. I am working on doing more healthly things, eating more whole wheat, getting exercise, eating more fruits and veggies. It is hard, but I have to think about what I want for my son starts with me.

I found it to be a good reminder...I know all that stuff but do I follow it...Why noooooooooo...I do not however measure food..There just isn't enough time in a day sometimes and if I want my husband to eat a fruit, it most likely has to be baked into a pie  Although he was eating apples and bananas till we ran out

I know, I find the hardest part to be actually buying the fresh food - when it's around I"m really good about serving it but getting to the store is a major hassle living in the city!

Here is another article on how to best stir fry - these things seem to be popping up everywhere, good though b/c I always get a little more info from each one!

Thanks for the article. I should be so much more health conscious than I am. We do pretty good though.

We always have at least a bag of fresh apples in the cupboard and I always do a big vegie portion as part of our meal.

My Dad suffers from diverticulitis, high cholesterole etc and is on FIVE different types of meds due to ill health brought on by poor diet. It's a good reminder to me to be a good eater. Also my Uncle Larry has had a couple of heart operations now.

I just don't believe poor health of this kind has to be taken as "the normal" just because people age. Taking the precautions of a healthy diet and pleanty of water early in life can save a lot of pain later.

I know I know, I just need to be better about buying fresh food. :D

What do you guys use to stir fry? Some of the oils mentioned in the article sounded great (garlic, sunflower, etc.)
