View Full Version : What says I love you to your kids?
RachelinLA 08-09-2007, 12:24 AM To mine, it's definitely spending time with them - in any way... though for DS it would probably be throwing a ball back and forth. DD will take it anyway you can give it - she likes to do crafts the most though I think.
I want to think of new ways to spend time with my kids - let them know I love them... so what do you do?
LaDonna 08-09-2007, 02:44 AM spending any kind of time bonding with them or playing dress up, reading anything that gives them my absolute attention......and just saying I love you all the time.
GenLovesDen4ever 08-09-2007, 03:26 AM Well we do the same things you mentioned. For each of mine its different. My ds loves to play board games with me at the minute and he loves pillow fights. We do that sometimes. he's six. Sophie is 8 and she likes me to sit and talk to her. She loves when I tell her stories about me as a kid. She likes me reading to her as well (she's 8). Julie is my girlie girl and she loves it when we do each other's hair and giving each other massages. (she's 8 too). We all like taking long hikes and going on 'adventures', going to the park, thru the woods, or getting lost with dad when we go on one of our nature trail walks. They also like it when I involve them in cooking or baking. Julie's learned how to make her own scrambled eggs (altho I dont let her do it when Im not suprevising). We actually like watching tv together. The American Idol shows or the other 'talent' show, dvds and such.

savedbygrace 09-20-2007, 06:36 PM Abby loves it when I spend time doing things with her. Go to library, read together, go to the park, color together or just snuggle and watch cartoons.

~Tara~ 09-21-2007, 11:17 AM Reading together. Snuggled up watching a movie together. Cooking together..they LOVE helping in the kitchen, every one of them!!
I think they like when I ride bikes with them too, at home or on the track : wink :
RhysMom 09-21-2007, 12:25 PM Just spending time with my dd. She loves to "help" me cook or bake cookies. We sprawl out on the carpet and watch movies and she loves that! Tickle fests are always a huge plus! She is two so as long as she isn't being punished for something she is happy!
Katielady 09-21-2007, 01:03 PM I'll even include the stepkids:
15 & 14 year old boys think it's super cool that their stepmom is only 10 years older than them! They love the fact that I like to play their playstation games with them when they come over. So that's always a plus!
13 year old stepdaughter loves to just talk my ear off! From talking about boys, clothes, music, school...whatever. She always tells her dad that she likes me because I listen and don't ingnore her.
4 & 2 year old stepsons love to color and love it when me or my DH sits down and colors with them. They also love to have books read to them.
Matthew 3 (almost 4) years old...anything that involves him being outside! Hehe...he would sleep in a tent outside all the time if we'd let him!!! Playdough, reading books, playing outdoors, and he loves to help cook too!
Cash...he just loves to be held right now!!! LOL!!!
LadyLavender 09-21-2007, 06:08 PM For my little boys right now, it's being read to- they all of a sudden have a HUGE interest in books. I can't sit down at all unless I'm ready for one (or two) little guys to back themselves into my lap with a storybook. They also love it when I sing to them- they actually both start applauding every time I finish a song.
My DD is super crafty- she loves it when I sit and do "crafts" with her- sometimes they're actually craft projects, and sometimes it's just lots of cutting and taping construction paper.
Webster5 09-22-2007, 10:03 PM Time, time and more time. They don't care for how long or what you actually DO together. They are both "time" Love Language kids.:) ~Kerri
Bekah_E 09-22-2007, 10:32 PM I agree! Time! My kids especially love quality family time... : )
