View Full Version : Hey guys..... i think i might be pregnant!
alidight 08-08-2007, 01:04 AM Hey guys Sorry I know i've been away for ages (few weeks) but ive be really struggling as my june period didn't come after 5 weeks and now im about halfway through week 7 since my last period and i just didn't want to come online as it just seemed like my body is playing tricks with me again (this is about the 5 time since we have been married 19 months that my period cycle was over 7 weeks!). I figured that this was just another time like that. Tested at 5 weeks - negative. Last week have been tired and today got fed up and said to DH "I'm just going to test! I'm sick of this!" I tested about 1 hour ago with hubby there to see results. The one line came up quickly and then we stood there for 2 minutes. I thought I could see another line faintly but hubby wasn't sure. Anyway after about 2 more minutes i took the test back to DH and showed him it was darker although it's still not matching the other line and is faint. The test packet said results in 2-5 minutes to read a positive and not to read a negative after 10 mins. This was definately not 10 mins! So I am trying not to get my hopes up. Didn't test in the morning (its 5pm here now) so am going to the supermarket to buy another for tomorrow morning. I really couldn't believe that it has two lines after 7 months of one! OH Lord please be with me during this time and help me not to be too upset if the test was wrong! Lord I want this so much! Please pray ladies!
Do you think that i'm pregnant or had tests like these before?
buttercup_97140 08-08-2007, 01:29 AM If you saw a second line, I would have to say CONGRATULATIONS! Can you take a picture or scan the test so we can see it?
It's pretty hard to get a false positive. It CAN happen, but it's not common! Just remember, a line is a line is a line, no matter how dark!
Blessings,
Amber
LaDonna 08-08-2007, 02:00 AM Not to be a downer or anything but I would definately get another test to make sure. I did a hpt once and got a faint line to indicate a positive. Went to the dr and was in fact not preggers. Please keep us up to date and let us know how the next test comes out.
Blessed 2 B Zoe 08-08-2007, 06:23 AM Oh I am so excited for you and praying that you get the results that you want.
I know there are some ladies that have gotten false positives, but in all my years of being a POS addict, I have never once gotten a false positive! I hope and pray you get your BFP, sweetie!!! :)
Edit: Mispelling... hehehee
PianoMama 08-08-2007, 08:12 AM :D Keep us updated, Ali! We're all pulling for a BFP!!!
hugs,
Kate

I think you are the only one I've ever heard of that has actually received a false positive. I was even told by a docror that there were no false positives, only false negatives...guess doctors don't know it all!
Here's hoping that you are indeed preggers!! Good luck! :D
breezykc2 08-08-2007, 08:32 AM ANY second line is positive, and false positives are almost unheard of...! Mine were all like that...the test line was always really faint! I would invest in another brand and see if you get better results! First Response is good and the dollar tree ones are good too! Good luck!
savedbygrace 08-08-2007, 11:20 AM here is some infor on false positives
False Positive Pregnancy Test Results and What Causes Them
A false positive pregnancy test is when the test says that you are pregnant but actually you are not. This is a one off case and a positive pregnancy test is a pretty good indication that you are pregnant. False positive pregnancy tests are rare - though there are instances and conditions where they can occur.
There could be various reasons for a false positive test.
Chemical Pregnancy
A chemical pregnancy is basically an early miscarriage. Research has shown that half of all first pregnancies end in miscarriage. Due to the high sensitivity of home pregnancy tests, many women catch early pregnancies but end up going on to have their periods due to a chemical pregnancy.
Missed Reaction Time
For accuracy in home pregnancy tests it is essential that you read the test results in the stipulated reaction time. If you let the test sit for too long (after the instructions on the box tell you), the test is invalid. This may cause it to show false positive results.
Chemical Interference
Drugs that have the pregnancy hormone Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) in them can cause incorrect results in home pregnancy tests. The Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) in them may be responsible for the false positive pregnancy test. If you have had an HCG shot due to infertilty treatments, you need to be sure the shot is out of your system before you attempt to use early pregnancy tests.
Evaporation Lines
While technically not a true pregnancy, some pregnancy tests leave a faint evaporation line as the urine crosses the test. This faint very light grey evaporation line in the test area is often interpretted as a positive result.
AimStick pregnancy test strips have a very good reputation of NOT leaving evaporation lines and are much less expensive than brands you can buy in your local supermarket or drug store.
If you are not sure about your home pregnancy results it is recommended that you try again after a couple of days. If doubts regarding the results still persist, you must see a doctor for a pregnancy blood test. A blood test administered by your doctor is more sensitive than the early home tests and can be taken between seven and twelve days after you conceive.
also if you use an expired hpt. you can get a false positive
I hope you get a BIG FAT POSITIVE!!!!!
alidight 08-08-2007, 05:30 PM hey guys,
thanks for all your support and good wishes! I went round to see my friend after writing that post last night and she convinced me to go and buy another test. We brought a two pack in another brand. Took one test last night and it was still faint but positive!!! Did another this morning and it was a little fainter but positive!!! Have an appointment with Doc today in about 1 hour 15 mins with hubby to get another test and do bloods so here we go!
I am so excited and couldn't sleep all night. Woke up about 5 times and finally started to pray and read at 5.30am today waiting til I could ring the doctor clinic at 8.30am! My DH Nick was a bit panicked last night when we did the tests even though we have talked through our decision to have kids but I understand that it must be weird for guys. However all my fears were put to rest when last night he knelt beside my bed (we are staying at my parents-in-law in single beds at the moment until we move to australia in 2 weeks) and put his hands on my stomach and prayed "God we thank you so much for this little one (oh he's so cute!) and Lord our prayers are that you will help us to be good parents and we dedicate this child to You. We pray that he or she will seek You with everything they have and that they will know you"
Oh GOD IS GOOD!!!
Man! That whole "him praying on your belly", oh that made me cry!!! How wonderful!!! Thank you for the update, keep us posted! I'm so excited for you guys! This is such an exciting and blessed time in your lives/marriage!!! I hope and pray that God continues to bless you and your *family*! :) Praying for you, hun!
stephwhiz 08-08-2007, 08:15 PM Praying for you and can't wait to hear the news! :D
tripper 08-08-2007, 09:05 PM Wow, Ali! I'm teary-eyed reading your last post! May God richly bless your marriage, no matter the results! :D
alidight 08-09-2007, 01:12 AM BFP! BFP! [cheer]
We got a BFP! a Big Fat Positive! We are gonna have a baby around the 25 March - 14 April!!!!!!! [claploud]
Wow I am so on a high right now! [dancing] Have been almost crying all day and did cry last night before we went to the doc today to get it confirmed. We are having my DH whole immediate family over for tea tonight (although none of them suspect a thing...) to tell them. We were going to wait until 2nd trimester but we leave to move to Australia in just 2.5 weeks now and wanted to give them some time before we go to get used to the idea! I am about 7.5 weeks pregnant with our first child. It really doesn't seem true! I am tired and hungry all the time (just snacky though and lots of toast to eat!) plus my breasts have been a little sore although I had been thinking that maybe that was just due to bad bra...
Anyway guys thanks soooooooo much for your prayers and support! You are the first people to know apart from DH and my Best friend!
I pray [prayer] that you guys who were TTC along with me these past 7 months all get BFP soon (God willing of course). Keep up hope. We had decided that we wouldn't chart anything the month we got preggie and it made us much more relaxed and now we are pregnant! Sorry I keep going on but im bouncing off the walls [jumping] as I can't scream it from the roof tops yet until we have told DH family. We are going to wait to tell my family until we get to Australia (they all live there) and can tell them in person.
Love you all!
Alison [pregnantside]

alidight 08-10-2007, 08:04 PM Hey guys,
I really need your prayers. Have just got back from the hospital.
Last night i had some abdominal cramping. Was sore but didn't last too long. I had told my doctor when i went to confirm the pregnancy that I had some cramping and she said it is fairly normal at this stage.
This morning I noticed that I had some really light brown spotting in my mucus (sorry if too much detail). It is so light that I have been wearing a pad but nothing is coming out on it just when i wipe inside the vagina opening. Anyway I got a bit scared (understatement) and my mother-in-law took me to the hospital as DH is working 30mins away. The doc there said that at the moment its a threatened miscarriage but with what he can see, feel, plus what I told him he said it should more likely go on to be ok. He said he would bet on it but of course there is still a chance. Anyway he has booked me in for a ultrasound this week which I am really thankful for and has said just to keep an eye out for any more pain and then to come straight back to hospital.
Anyway so I have been crying and praying. We have been trying for this baby for 6 months and I have fallen in love with it already. I know I will see little "poppet" again if he/she does go early but it still hurts.
Please just pray that God's will be done and that if this is meant to happen (either way) that he will help us deal with it. Please pray that it passes through this stage and that the pregnancy will continue. Please pray for strength.
Thanks ladies. I really appreciate having you guys there. At the moment it is just too hard to be around anyone else but I know that I can talk to you without breaking down again.
savedbygrace 08-10-2007, 08:30 PM O sweetie, I'll be praying for you. Just take it really easy! Don't be doing any serious housework or lifting anything. I hope you find comfort and peace just knowing that it is all in God's hands! Love you sweetie, and keep us posted!
Taulbania 08-10-2007, 09:13 PM {{{HUGS}}}} I am praying for you, that our Lord will give you peace and strength to face this pregnancy and its trials.
