View Full Version : We STILL don't know!!!!
I'm going to start a petition to fire the technician! We had her with our last U/S and she didn't couldn't tell if the baby's a boy or girl. She blamed it on the machine and it being too early to tell. Well, she couldn't tell this time around either. But that's not why I think she's incompetent. Last time, she had to take measurements of the same thing three times because she kept spacing it and not saving her measurements. She kept making small mistakes this time around too. It seriously makes me wonder if she knwos what she's supposed to be looking for!
Argh! I just want to know what we're having!!!

(But the baby IS healthy, so thank goodness for that.) :D

I'm so sorry. Did you at least get some pictures?
Can you get another ultrasound? If you do, make sure it is a different tech. By law you can request your medical care provider for stuff. I learned that in the ER one day.
Well, at least it is a fifty fifty chance for a boy or a girl :D

Yeah, we did get some pics...and I've got another U/S scheduled in a month. It's going to be the same technician, though...so who knows.
Oh, and she thinks it might be a girl, but she's not sure. She said it's a 55/45 chance. Helpful, huh?
How many weeks are you now? By 20 weeks it should be obvious. By 18 weeks they should be able to tell also. I had both my U/S at 18 weeks and the first one they could tell no problem. The second time they could have told me had she been in the correct position for them to see LOL but she was hiding  The second time at 20 weeks they could see.
Do you have photos that another technician would be able to see the "bits" on? Because I know someone who is REALLY good at reading U/S pics. She does U/S I think. She can probably tell you no problem.
You could try the Draino test

I'm around 22 weeks. They were able to tell with Riley at 21 weeks, no problem. With this one, the technician showed us between the legs and there was a line, but it wasn't the tell-tale hamburger. (Sorry, that just cracks me up.) Anyway, she said that she's leaning towards a girl, but nothing was conclusive. :(
And she only sent us home with profile pics. No pics of the goods.

Sorry to hear that Beck. With my daughter they weren't able to really tell either. When i was 20 weeks they said oh we can't tell because the baby won't show us. Then i went again at 24 weeks and the technican was like i think it's a girl but not sure. I ended up getting neutral things to be on the safe side. Well it she did end up being a girl! For some reason or other the Lord may want you guys to be surprised with this little one.
I don't want to sound like a smart alec or anything, it's just that when I had my ultrasound with the twins it was DEAD obvious at 18w that we were having at least one BOY. I know people have been wrong before, so I am certainly not encouraging you do believe either way, but at your stage a penis and testes should be incredibly obvious????
I was so lucky my US was really clear and I could see the... arrmmm labia myself - I will have to teach Matilda how to act more lady-like in the future LOL (what did you call it HAMBURGER? [whatquestion] )
Still mistakes are made in U/S with sex ... I am sure people are going to come into this thred and state that fact
At least you have yet another chance, HOW LONG did you say you have ti wait again????

If it were me I would talk to my O/B about it. Mine could tell by the pics. I would ask if the O/B would call and request someone he/she had faith in. They have that kind of "pull" as the doctor. You're paying for it. You should have all your questions answered.

Yeah, if the tech is still that bad next time, we're going to talk to the doc about it. I go back in in 4 weeks, so it won't be too late to tell or anything...hopefully.
