My DD will turn 2 in about one week.
She still likes to drink milk from the bottle, although she primarily uses sippy cups for water, juice and milk during the day. However, if she's especially fussy or tired, I find that the bottles are soothing to her, so sometimes I still cave in and give it to her. Plus, since she's my only child, and a miracle at that, I enjoy the "closeness" of holding her with it because it makes me feel like she's still my 'baby' and not growing so quickly.
The only other time she gets the bottle is sometimes before bed. It really helps to get her to sleep. People (especially my sister!) really get on me about how she should not be drinking from them anymore.
Any advice?

My only advice is don't let her drink sippy cups or bottles while lying down. Not only is it bad for the teeth but it can cause ear infections. There are little pockets in the back of the throat and when you are lying down and drinking the fluid gets in there and causes a infection.
As for her being too old. She is your child, you do as you please. If it is harming her growth in anyway, then okay take it into consideration. But who cares what others say. I do think when I see a 4/5 year old drinking from a bottle that is too old, but because they are more involved with other children and may be picked on. I do think that it's not good for children to put so much sucurity in a sippy cup or bottle, but that's just my opinion. My dd is 3 and we are weaning her from sippy cups because she loves!!!! them!!!! I now give her cups with a lid and straw. But she was becoming lazy while using her sippy cups. So I thought it was time to take them away.

I have to agree, about the bottle. Your dd is only using it in moderation, and a sippy cup during the day, I don't think that there is too much concern. We waited until my ds was one and then slowly started limiting how many times he would drink from the bottle. It is a great time to cuddle and love on your little miracle. Once he got used to the sippy, then at night, we would give him a few drinks of his milk in a sippy instead of a bottle. He ususally takes a few drinks as we read a story. It seemed as long as he had milk, he was okay that it was in a sippy cup.
My son was also a miracle, what is the story of your little blessing?

Hi my little girl is nearly 4 and she uses a normal cup to drink from, I found it better than the sippy cups. She used to really cry for a bottle on a night but things got crazy as I was refilling it loads and loads.
The best advice that I could give and also what I have been told is do it at your childs pace. Slowly wean her off the bottle it is hard but it can be done.

My dd finally gave up her bottle when she was about 2 1/2. I had the same concerns, however I figured that as long as she was doing well otherwise then it was ok. She also only used it when she was fussy. It was more of a comfort thing for her. She never was a thumb sucker or used a binky. The "baba" was her thing. She finally threw it in the trash when she decided she was a "big girl". Now she uses the sippy as her comfort. (she's now about 3 1/2). The day will come when she's ready to give that up also. I learned not to over stress myself over these things. If she's still asking for a bottle when she's in kindergarten then maybe I'd be a little concerned.
