Hi everyone,
Lately all my dd (almost 14 mos) has been doing a lot of screeching and screaming and it is just deafening and after a day of work and coming home to her it's crazy. We give her lots of attention and make sure she doesn't need something but I guess she is just stretching her vocal chords? It drives me nuts! I just want to come home from work and sit down for 5 minutes and eat supper. I feel like it is so much to ask. Someone tell me it is just a phase they go through until they can talk?!
mine did that ...might i recommend a good pair of earplugs for the next few years?

Samera is in that stage right now also. If she is screaming because she in the middle of one of her tantrums we give her a time-out in the naughty chair and that usually sloves the problem for us, but... when the naughty chair doesn't fix it, we spank her. (Which I must admit, is reeeely hard for me). If she is screaming (in a much lower key) because she is happy and playing, we take her mind off it (her screaming) by whispering into her ear, then in turn, she starts to whisper back!

Yes, we have tried the whisper thing too. She is not yet talking so it is hard to reason with her right now. We plan to eventually use a time out chair once she understands why. She does it more at the dinner table when we are eating, but I can't understand why she does it. We give her lots of attention. Otherwise she doesn't do it. Earplugs is a good suggestion too!

We do that too and it works...sometimes. The problem is she's just got a loud voice, so even when she "talks," she's loud. She's at the age where she can understand what we're telling her. She doesn't always obey, but she is making a valiant effort.
The earplug thing...great idea!
