1Cor13 07-29-2007, 09:16 PM I check on my kids about once or twice beofre i go to bed, when I am going to bed my self to make sure they are covered and when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom or feed the baby I peek in on them. so alot... lol
pioneerchristianmomof3 07-29-2007, 09:19 PM #4 ...especially now!
I usually just check on them right before I go to bed. (Unless of course there are problems in the night...dd is cutting molars right now...so I have been up more often.)
TonelsMom 07-29-2007, 11:36 PM I check on the kids once before I fall asleep and then Jay checks on them before he does.
mamallama 07-30-2007, 12:37 AM I feel like such a bad mom! I really don't normally check on my kids (given they haven't been sick, aren't making noise or up for some reason) after I put them down for the night. I do have a monitor on for ds since he is younger so I hear him if he needs me. DD knows how to come get me if she needs something now...she's four.
Is that bad??

Nah...i don't think it is..i pretty much do the same, if i here a noise or if they are sick i check up on them. My dd knows how to come get me also and i'm a very light sleeper so i hear them if they cry or wake up.
Cheeseburger 07-30-2007, 01:13 AM 2 times a night... usually. I only get up when Katherine makes noise like she wants me (whining or crying). I don't check on her if she is quiet. She can't get out of her crib yet anyway so I know she is OK :-)
savedbygrace 07-30-2007, 01:50 AM I check once to make sure she is covered, but usually that's it. If I was up for another reason I'd go check on her. Her room is directly across from ours and I hate sleeping with my door open (which was hard for me at first because dh wanted the door open just in case she needed something) , But I couldn't stand it and so now when she needs me (like to go potty) she yells Mommmmm I gotta Peeeeeee! Then dh knudges me.
I put once a night, but sometimes I don't check on her bcuz if I open her bedroom door she wakes up &she usually doesn't need it. Sometimes, I can't help myself and I have to go and look at her bcuz I miss her and I want to see her beautiful face. But usually I don't go in there bcuz her door is loud when you open it and it makes her wake up if she's not in a deep sleep.

the only 'checking' I do on the big boys in the basement is if I hear them still talking after 'lights out' hehe or if their light is still on well after their allotted time
and then I just call down to them "lights out, bedtime, love you"
then, doodles goes to bed when the boys do, the baby goes in later. when I take the baby in I give Doodle a kiss on the head as I exit the room...she's already zonked out by then hehe
PianoMama 07-30-2007, 11:25 AM I don't check ever, so I didn't vote. Unless, he's crying of course! Our house is kinda old (built in 1936) so all the doors stick and don't latch correctly. So, if I opened his door, it would be quite loud and probably wake him up!
I picked just once, but if he cries out or comes into my room I take care of him. If he is sleeping, I don't go check on him because in the past it has woken him up and I don't want to risk it.
If I feel worried, like he has had a stuffy nose or something, I still have the monitor plugged in his room and I will grab my part and listen in.
I just check on everybody once before I lay down; I do the midnight roll call and make sure all the doors are locked and go to bed. :) I've always been that way, even when I lived with my parents... I would always check the doors and such before I went to bed.
But, I only check on the kids just the once.
Katielady 07-30-2007, 02:46 PM I have always been (with my son or stepkids) like most here. Check when I go to bed and only if I hear something unusual or am up in the night anyway. For me, in recent months...that could have been 4 or 5 times a night...just because this baby and pregnancy have had me up peeing so much!
just once before I go to bed.
Mine are a little older tho, no they are all sleeping through the night.
2dinkers 07-30-2007, 05:02 PM I voted everytime I hear a sound, because my boys will stay up past midnight talking and possibly wake up their little sister. The 3 yr old twins share a room with 18 month old dd, we have a small house and that's just the way it has to be.
I check on them until I see that they are asleep, but it's not like it was when they were babies and I would check on them constantly just to make sure they're still breathing.
If they would go right to sleep (we're in the fantasy world now), I would check on them one time just to be sure they were covered up and that's it, but that's just a fantasy.
Mommy37 07-30-2007, 05:28 PM :P I check on my kid's just once before I go to bed, then when my DH comes to bed he checks on them as well.
