Ok, I've been doing a lot of walking lately due to car situations. Anyway, no matter how far I walk my legs burn, and they feel like they are going to fall off. And even if I don't walk at all in a day, but I walk up my stairs, they still feel like they are going to fall off. anyway, does anyone have any safe exercises I can do to strengthen them for labor. I have this pg book that suggests doing squats to build up strength for squating in labor. I'm gonna try that bcuz I would like to try squating during the pushing stage. As of right now, I don't think my legs could even cope with standing during labor, let alone squating  Any suggestions would be great!

My legs get crampy a lot now, and during pg. I would make sure you are hydrated and have all the vitamins and minerals you need, sometimes that can make our muscles act weird.
As for stretching/exercising, I thinks squats would be good, I do them with my exercise routine every other day, and I can tell a huge difference. The experts now say that stretching when your muscles are cold is a bad idea, so try stretching them after your workout, you may see better results!
You can also, in addition to squats, hold onto something for balance, and lift one leg off the ground, and then lift your body off the ground with your other foot. They are small movements, but you can feel it working your calf muscles.

I hope you get some relief from your muscles, having them ache isn't very fun!

Blessings,
Amber

Wahey! Someone replied  Thanks Amber. I will try what you suggested. I still haven't tried the squats yet, actually I should go do that now. Might need dh to help me incase I get stuck in that position....LOL. Too much weightage going on

I get jelly legs too, I think it is do to being so tired to begin with. I agree with the squats, and you can do them differnt ways. If you have a big exercise ball you can just sit on it and your doing a "squat" also if you lay on the ground and put your legs in the air and grab your feet (or what you can reach) and pull them in, thats a squat too. Just walking will help you get strong legs.
