HELP!
I went to my prenatal appointment and ended up at the hospital due to high bp. 172 /100. We did a non-stress test and monitoring and finally got it back down.
If I don't settle down then I'll be confined to bedrest, of which, I will go totally bonkers, not to mention having to go on maternity leave so early.
What have you ladies done to keep your bp down? We're testing for preclampsia and I'm praying, praying, praying all the tests come back ok!
I didn't have any signs of high bp and the pregnancy has gone so well. I'm worried about bed confinement or worse, induction, which I will grovel and plead to not have done.

Oh poor you I do not have any advice I'm afraid I will keep you in my prayers. I know bed rest is hard but just think of the fun you could have with it, get a tiny bell and ring for things that would be cool.

Feet up....lay on left side for 10 minutes every 60 minutes....64 oz. of H2O....no salt....no caffine.....
Helped me some to keep out of the danger zone...seemed impossible since I was teaching...but luckily the kiddos were helpful! LOL

My earlier BP was truly caused from so much stress....praying that your BP goes back to normal on it's on.
Sorry don't have any advice, but will definitely be praying.

I have been borderline for a couple months which is partly why my DR encouraged me to go off work, which I am glad I did now. I drink a ton of water and lay down often especially on the left side. I also suggest take it easy as often as you can, lay down put your feet up. eat lots of veggies, especially dark leafy ones, it is suppoose to help and moderate your sugars which can effect preeclampsia. Praying it is nothing and you are fine. When do you find out about your tests?

My preeclampsia hit me at 34-35 weeks. Up until that point I had only gained 15 pounds, ate good, drank no caffeine whatsoever, walked 5-7 miles a week, and then all of a sudden my legs started swelling and I couldn't feel anything below my knees, I couldn't wear shoes, I was so swollen you could put an inch or more indentation in my legs. I gained 25 pounds in 3 weeks and it was all fluid. (Two weeks after giving birth I had lost 50 pounds). I was confined to bed rest, lots of water, laid on my left side forever, or so it seemed, and absolutely no salt, no caffeine, no stress, no anything. Be careful, it's so dangerous, and sometimes, like mine, no matter what I did, it didn't work. I was admitted to the hospital so they could monitor my bp while I was laying on my side, not stressed, not excited, nothing, and my blood pressure was still 170/100, I didn't work, there was just nothing I could do, it started to affect my kidneys lol :) and they decided to induce at 37 weeks. I will pray for you, and my best advice is to relax give it to God, because He is in control anyway and if you trust Him and have faith He will bring your baby and you through this safely.
Love and prayers,
Cheri :)
