Hello AGAIN! If anyone remembers me, I have a 10 1/2 month old baby boy, Samuel. He still does not sleep through the night. I have tried it ALL! He wakes at least 2 times a night, and I KNOW that it is a habit for him now. He does it at essentially the same times each night: 2am, 4am, 6am, and up at 7am. So, anyone with some GREAT ideas?
ALSO, he can't tolerate table foods yet. I tried giving him homemade baby food and some foods that are a little more substantial, like mushed up macaroni or just anything that is really really REALLY smushy, and he just ends up vomiting. And I DO mean vomiting.
HELP?

If he can't tolerate table foods yet I would have the doc check him out... that sounds really odd to me since most kids by that age can at least handle baby foods... that may be why he is waking up at night because he needs nourishment? if they get hungry, they wake up. I try to stuff katherine full at dinner because I know if she doesn't eat enough she will be up in the middle of the night wanting some milk or a cracker or something. :-)
I agree with Cheese. My ds was having nightwakings and the doc me they were habits and he wasn't hungry. DS is very big so she said that he didnt' need to eat at night anymore. When she told me this, I started experimenting like feeding him at 8 pm one night and 10 pm the next and he was waking at the same time regardless of when I fed him.
So I let him cry it out. The first night he cried for over an hour (it was awful) from like 2-3:05 and the next night he cried from 2-3:20 and the third night he didn't wake up at all! We haven't had any issues with sleeping since then! I know that crying it out doesn't work for everyone but it did for us. ds is much happier now that he sleeps through. we really prayed about this before doing it but it worked for us! Feel free to pm me if you want anymore details!!! Good luck!

food tolerance issues sound like possible reflux...he should be able to eat foods like you're saying without difficulty if there isn't a medical problem...definatly check with your doc if you haven't on that...if they vomit like that it destroys the lining and can hurt sleep too due to the intense burning they have...they have meds that can help and they work miracles on the kids I've seen take them and some of them have even had surgery to fix a larger issue....but they could eat and sleep without pain afterward!
....and some kids don't sleep through the night til' older! Mine didn't until after 1 year and that is normal with a lot of kids...hang in there, it's a short time period in retrospect!
Prayers, good luck!

Good NEWS!! Samuel ate baby food for breakfast (jarred) like normal. But only 1/2 his usual fare. THEN, when the family sat down for a brunch meal together, we put him in his HC and he ate with us! He had little biscuit pieces with gravy on them and some cantaloupe and watermelon! He ate like a big boy. I even took it one step further, because he WON'T drink (suck) from a sippy cup, I gave him some formula in a small plastic cup and held it for him while he DRANK from a CUP!!!!!! YAY BABY!!!!
Maybe this will help to turn around his nighttime waking?
I gave him baby food from a jar for supper, (we had burgers) and he ate that plus chewed on a biter biscuit. OH WOW< I never saw anything like what happened!!!!!! Get THIS:
I watch him like a hawk with those biter biscuits ever since he got a big hunk in his throat once and almost choked. So I looked over and he had a big piece gone from it, but the left over part was BLOODY!!! It's not any wonder that the poor boy was crying HYSTERICALLY all day. He was still trying to cut the top teeth that are just coming in, the REST of the way. I think it was a really good thing I bought the orajel and ibuprofen today. :!: POOR LITTLE FELLA.
oh no. Hopefully it was just the teeth bothering him.

Teething can be a normal cause for night waking. It was & still is sometimes for my 18 mo old. You can also try Gummomile or Hyland's teething tablets at nighttime to help him. Another prevelant cause of night waking is dairy & if he's throwing up, he may be allergic or like someone else said have a reflux problem.
By the way - my ds just started sleeping thru the night & he's 18 months. In fact, according to Elizabeth Pantley, 60% of 0-2yr olds have night waking. So your ds is normal.
