So the books say I should be gaining a lbs a week now, but for the last month I haven't gained anything really....not even a whole pound. On my last apt. 2 weeks ago my MD mentioned that I haven't gained any weight but I guess wasn't really worried and my fundas was still measuring OK. but now I have another apt. this week on Friday and am concerned after weighing myself this morning that I still haven't gained anything. I know my belly is still growing, but should I be concerned. I figure my Dr. will let me know for sure, but in the meantime should I worry? My weight gain so far hasn't been very much anyways...only 18 lbs to date. I am eating well and often, and whatever I want and crave so it isn't like I am dieting. I am just getting a little worried since it is getting so late in pregnancy now.

I think that is fine as long as your fundal height continues. I didn't gain my last 8 lbs until the last 2 weeks. My total weight gain was 28lbs. I had times where I would even lose a pound or two from my previous appointment. They never worried about it as long as the baby was growing. So, as long as Josh is doing well, I think you're fine.

I don't think it's a big deal every woman is different. With Katherine i gained most of the weight in the first trimester and didn't so much near the end... as long as your baby is growing you are fine... i think it can be normal to even lose a few pounds, because your body is working hard to feed that baby, but no worries as long as you have proper nutrition. :)

For me, I gained about 20 pounds with my first, 40 pounds with my second  and then only about 10 to 15 pounds with the twins. Everyone is most certainly different, and every pregnancy is different. All my babies were extremely healthy and none had problems due to my wieght gain or lack thereof. :)

some women lose a few pounds the last week or two, and some lose a few pounds the last month. Others, they gain like crazy.

I did both with seperate pregnancies.

as long as things are ok with heart rate, fluid levels, and fundal height, I wouln't worry.

When my mom was pregnant with me, she gained a whopping 12 pounds the whole pregnancy, went into the hospital for toxemia at 34 weeks, lost 2 pounds, and I was delivered ER c-sec at 35 weeks. (I weighed 8 pounds, LOL) I wasn't healthy, I was a sick little preemie, but I was 8 pounds, LOL The OB that delivered me said he'd NEVER seen an 8 pounder before 38 weeks, but that with the health issues I had, the extra fat on me helped me survive.

I wouldn't worry about it, though. But watch out, just before you start to labor, you may gain a few pounds at once, being water weight. Some women retain fluid as their body preps for labor. (the whole anti-dehydration thing)

I'm curious, did your doc tell you the total amount of weight you are to gain for this pregnancy?

My doc didn't hesitate to tell me that he only wanted me to gain between 15-20 lbs during my entire pregnancy because I was already close to 20lbs overweight. *sigh*... that doesn't seem easy. I showed my parents my belly on the webcam last night and they were excited, but also seemed surprised my belly was already as big as it is...*sigh again*. LOL...I tried to use the excuse that since I have such a short torso the baby doesn't have anywhere else to go, but out!

I agree...as long as Josh is healthy, it seems you are doing great with your weight gain.
