1Cor13 07-11-2007, 01:06 PM What does you feed them?? give me a daily menu or ideas? I can't remember what the other kids ate, actuallyi think my other 2 ate baby food till alot later. Bu McKenna seems to like the solids, I just dont know what to give her..
thanks
savedbygrace 07-11-2007, 05:20 PM At 8 1/2 months Abby was eating purade (sp) carrots with applesauce, green beans, peas, pasta with tomatoe sauce, baiscally whatever I could purade. I use to cook the food, purade it and then poor it into ice cube trays, cover it with press-n-seal wrap, freeze it. Then Pop out a cube, microwave it and feed it to her. In the morning I would mix baby cereal with carrots and applesauce, afternoon pasta, meat and vegi in one and sometimes fruit. evening about the same. Plus i still was nursing her.
mom n luv 07-11-2007, 05:44 PM My DS#2 was pretty fed up with baby food by eight months so here is some of what we have fed him.
Breakfast.
Torn up waffles and pancakes.
Yogurt
Diced bananas
cherrios softened in formula
Scrambled eggs(we started those at 10 1/2 months)
Lunch and dinner.
Black Beans smashed up but he was still able to pick them up.
Cooked and diced sweet potatoes, potatoes, beans, carrots.
Rice.
Potatoes mashed with yogurt or cheese
Torn up grilled cheese
Torn up lunch meat
Small pieces of meatloaf and meatballs
Diced cooked pears and peaches, applesauce.
Diced cheese, some kinds are to hard he liked colby jack the best or string cheese.
He is now 11 months and eats almost any thing we eat even though he only has one tooth. This cracks me up because DS#1 still eats the gerber graduate veggies and clung onto baby food for a very very long time.

thanks... When you give eggs, is it the whole eggs or seperated??? whites and yolks.
DD is feed up with purade baby food except the cereal in the morning. I just could not remember if she could have yogurt, cheese, being milk products i did not want to upset her tummy.
or anything spicy i guess is out like sauces and some meat.
Did you put butter on the pancakes or walffes or plain??
mom n luv 07-12-2007, 04:16 PM We do wafffles and pancakes plain, less mess.
With the eggs my ped said to start with the yolk first and then the white. So I first gave hime bits of a boiled egg, before doing straight out scrambled.
On the yogurt and cheese front, straight milk is the main dairy to steer clear of. The proteins in milk that hurt their tummies are more broken down and processed in yogurt and cheeses. Be careful with cheese because it can really stop a baby up if you know what I mean
On some sauces and soups I have added rice cereal to and my ds loves that.
And last night I realized I forgot my ds's favorite food pasta, specifically spiral noodles(easy to pick up) I usually cut them in half.
I hope McKenna enjoys her new food choices.
1Cor13 07-12-2007, 08:39 PM Karla, thats again. Great ideas, it just seems so weird for me to give her solids Like I am doing something wrong. lol
tonight i have her almost half of a grilled cheese, she loved that, and grapes cut and peeled (that took forever ) and banana cut up she still seemed hungry so she hada bit of her mixed cereal.
She was hardto settle tonight for bed and cryed for a while. I wonder if the cheese had something to do with it., She is on a special formula that has smaller proteins cause she was having a hard time with the regular baby formula.
Is feeding her solids at 8 1/2 months going to make her fat?? she always wants what we have and trys to take our food //if she sees us with food she comes right over and gets very upset if she cant have any, if its something she cant have. my other kids were not like that till after they were 1yr olds.
mom n luv 07-13-2007, 04:09 PM I don't think eating solids will make her fat because she is probably eating the same amount of calories as she was eating when she was eating pureed food.
danou 07-20-2007, 03:42 PM my ds loves "real" food... basically we feed him the same as us.
AM:
cheerios/puffed wheat
yogurt or cottage cheese
fruit pieces - blueberries, etc
lunch:
whole wheat pasta or other whole grain products (bread, cracker etc)
frozen veggies cooked in microwave (corn. diced carrots, peas etc)
tuna fish, lunch meat or other small pieces of chicken, beef or whatever I'm eating
supper: whatever we eat or same as lunch but with fruit added
other veggies: red/yellow peppers, sweet potatoes, squashes
chick peas & other beans
At first I was really careful about sauces and stuff- but ds loves flavours and sauces. I don't give him too much for tomatoes... it's pretty acidic for him yet
