Hey ladies just thought it would be interesting to start a thread to see what discomforts we all struggled through while pregnant. My worst by far has been my eczema. I sailed through the 1st trimester with a voracious appetite and only 2 weeks or so of significant morning sickness, but got horrifying, painful, itchy ezcema in the 2nd trimester that won't go away! I've thought before that I'd rather have morning sickness than eczema, but I might live to regret those words!
It was funny because people always said that the 2nd trimester was supposed to be so great! For me, my 2nd trimester was nothing short of slow torture! Anybody here find that your 2nd or 3rd trimesters were a lot worse than your first?
I was about to pick sleeplessness, but the root of that problem is dreams, dreams and more dreams. As I've posted before, some of them are VERY disturbing, but some of them just make no sense or they bring back weird feelings and I wake up with those feelings. And as I said, it contributes to sleeplessness. I wake up fifty times a night and don't really get a good night's sleep. Ugh!
Mine isn't on the list... SPD. That's Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction. It's pain "down there" where the bones meet. Right now I feel like they are going to break any time soon.

Sleeplessness for me! It's making me crazy. I'm nto a good sleeper at the best of times, so this is making me nuts. I'm up five or six times a night, and often can't get back to sleep. grrrrr.

I am exhausted. I can't sleep at night. Dainyah waits until I am finally out cold, then kicks my bladder a good one, so I have to get up and in a hurry. Two nights ago, she did this six times! I was so tired yesterday from not sleeping, I got home from taking Hubby to work, and I went and laid down. I set an alarm for three so I could make him dinner, however, I turned it off. I woke up three minutes before his lunch break at four. Then, I was exhausted again last night, and of course, the munchkin wasn't tired, so it was countless trips to the potty for me, again. I am seriously considering getting some adult diapers to wear (the sudden urges while grocery shopping are bad too) or inserting a catheter. Just so I can sleep!
One other annoying thing is that I am finding it harder and harder to get up. Like from a sitting position. And I am now relegated to only taking baths when Hubby is home. Last time, I thought I was going to be stuck in the bathtub. However, I drove him to work, so he would have had to have walked home, and his keys are currenty AWOL, so he would have been stuck outside. I did manage to get out, but it was rather difficult. When I told him of the near predicament, he laughed. If it had happened though, he would have been freaking out wondering what had happened to me. At least I had the phone next to me in the tub in case something happened.

My worse symptom is my back and hip pain... Although not a common problem with pregnancy... I have arthritis in my lower back and hips... Where other people have a honeymoon 2nd trimester the pain just sets in for me and doesn't go away until the delivery... Needless to say I don't sleep much after the pain comes because I can't take anything for it!

Ugh, isn't that the worst?? They need to make a drug store specifially for pregnant women with aisles and aisles of asprin-free ibuprofin, alcohol-free cold and sinus medications and caffeine-free chocolate! :D

With both pregnancies I got the worst headaches  They were awful, but I didn't see that on the poll, so I voted for heartburn as it was pretty bad by the end of my second pregnancy, I was chugging on the Mylanta! The only thing that would bring relief!
With my first pregnancy I had gall bladder atacks, but didn't realize that is what it was until after ds was born, that was pretty painful!

I didn't have a honeymoon second trimester this time! :(
My worst pain with my first pregnancy was actually tailbone pain. Ouch. I couldn't sit down without being in pain. I was scared it was going to break during labour because one of my workmates had the same thing and hers broke during labour

Can you take Tylenol? I think that's what you call Panadol there. I read that I can take Panadol/Paracetamol but to consult the doctor first. I had to take it when I was pregnant with Abby when I got a cold. I had a cold every trimester
So far so good with this pregnancy... no colds yet! *KNOCK ON WOOD*
I also took Bonningtons Irish Moss cough syrup. It is all natural stuff and it tastes nice.

Yep that would be one of the other things I would have ticked if I had more boxes I could tick! I am chugging on the Mylanta already and I am only 27 weeks. I started getting it at about 16 weeks this time I think. Last time I lived on Mylanta in the last two months. I am basically living on it now already.
Expectantmommy, you should have made a box for ALL OF THE ABOVE! LOL! My biggest pains have been in my caesarian scar, and those aches you get in the pelvic floor, has anyone had those? OWCH!

Tylenol isn't really an anti-inflammatory so it doesn't really work...

I was told it's fine to take ibuprofen. Isn't it weird how they all say something different?

I had terrible morning or should I say ALL DAY sickness with all three of my children. Plus my cyatic (spelling?) nerve. THat killed by my last pregnancy.

Oh yes! I can just be lying in bed and have sharp aches down there. It's horrible!

Wow I am going to ask my midwife next time I see her because I know Ibuprofen would probably ease a lot of my pains! I have Sciatica as well and I used to take it for that I think. I used it a lot when I had a bad tooth and had to have a root canal job done. It took them a year to decide that the roots were not healing and then they did the root canal job. So all that time I had to take Ibuprofen. Or chew on a clove

You mean "sciatic". I have that problem too. That is really horrible. I can just be doing the dishes and have really bad sharp shooting pains in my back. UGH And if I try to lie on my back to sleep I get them too. I can only lie on my right side now.

Man alive! All of a sudden I don't feel quite as sorry for myself! I'm glad that I started this thread. Sounds like we all have some trials.

Yeah... she told me last time I could use ibuprofen for my migraines if I needed to up until about week 33... But after that nope!
I just think that they don't want you taking it like water!

I picked morning, noon, and night sickness, since it is still occasionally rearing its nasty head at week 31  I would have picked heartburn but since I am on meds for it, it doesn't bother me at all. Another major discomfort that tops my list is ahem bowel problems/constipation and the big H's the word grosses me out so I don't think I will write it

Aw man... the H's KILLED me last time... The one time I remember it really bothering me was last Thanksgiving... I was sitting at the table playing games and suddenly it got REALLY painful to sit there... I was sitting crooked, on one cheek, to get the pressure off... Turns out I had sprouted a new, huge one that day...
Ah the joys of pregnancy...
At the moment if I stand up too long or do too much of a burst of house cleaning or cooking I get achy/tender... Fortunately I was told this is normal.
Luckily I have an understanding husband who doesn't mind if the house is perfect or not (usually NOT) LOL.
The tiredness will not go away either even with a nap
Well I had a look at the back of my mums Ibuprofen pack last night to see what it says. It says if you are pregnant to consult your doctor first. It says there is Aspirin in Ibuprofen :? And I read not to take Aspirin because it can affect babys and your own blood clotting mechanism or something? And it's a blood thinner of course. So there goes that idea. I don't want to take it. I'm too paranoid.
And I won't take Panadol unless I have a cold or flu.

Right after #1 was born, the nurse at the hospital said "Oh, you got a cute little H." Seriously... nothing cute or little about it.

Haha that is hilarious!!!
I had a crappy day shift nurse the day after ds was born and I told her I had so much pressure down there like I was really constipated... I asked her if maybe I had some h's... She said let me look. She took a peek and said... aw... not that bad that it would be causing you that much discomfort!
So when I got home I took my own little peek... I want to know what made that crazy nurse think they were nothing!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so glad I never had a H. I had a fissure though. But it healed up really quickly on it's own. That was when I was about 26 weeks pregnant.
H's are not cute or little. And they are painful especially if they are on the outside not inside. It hurts to sit down.

i had morning sickness day and night...i even would get car sick..which was a bummer cause i had to be driven to my dcts appt. an hour away...my brother always took me...so needless to say he made me take a barf bag and sick in the back..my entire pregnancy i couldnt keep anything down..unless i was craving it...i still gained 40 pounds..and got super swollen on my ankles, fingers and face.....so yeah i wish and hope that my next pregnancy wont be so bad..
Ladies with H's just buy yourself one of those nice inflatable rings that you can easily put in your handbag to sit on LOL... my friend Bridget had to do that at work and was always the butt (lol) of many jokes everytime she pulled it out to use it... of course everytime she had to get it out to sit on it she would collapse in giggling fits and go red in the face  which made us all laugh.
She would announce that she was getting her inflatable pillow ring out and it was just hysterical. I guess you had to know her tho LOL
Embaressingly enough I have mastered the art of falling asleep in my arm chair LOL LOL
I look like humpty dumpty in my maternity jeans too so it must look quite funny!
