I know that there are several changes in CM during pregnancy...and toward the end, I will lose the perverbial "mucus plug"....but I'm wondering what I should be expecting.

Right now..I have a lot of very thick, creamy discharge. No itching, odor or anything that would make me think yeast or bacterial vaginosis. Simply an excess of mucus. It seems a bit odd to me and since I forgot to ask my doc last night about it (visit went great by the way!) I thought I'd throw it out there to you guys.

I know this could be a TMI subject....but what should I expect? I just can't remember how things were "down there" the last few weeks with my first pregnancy.

So...I don't think it's my mucus plug, but it seems that not everyday, but most days in the last couple of weeks, I would find myself with a large amount of REALLY thick almost white discharge when I wiped,,, TMI...sorry.

hmmm. I don't know. it *could* be your plug. Even if it is, it could still be days or WEEKS even before labor.

I never ever lost my plug, but had the same type of mucus you are describing. I had that around the same time as you are right now, too. You are so close... man!!! This pregnancy sure has flown!! :) and I'm not even you! :)

I bet it is your mucus plug. Some people lose them a little at a time and some people lose them all at once. :D

OK, sorry if this is TMI:

I have a lot of thick, almost white discharge too... I doubt it is my mucus plug this early on. It comes and goes. I think it's just my hormones. It could be the start of your mucus plug coming out though, too. I would watch for any blobs or reddish tinge... w/ my first pg the mucus plug came out in a really clear, disgusting blob, all at once....

I lost my plug for about 3 weeks. Some days it was more than others but it was usually a clear, thick blob (eww) that had red or brownish streaks in it. I heard that it meant labor was right around the corner but not for me! Can't wait to hear when you go into labor!!!!

Hmmm... Jill described the mucus plug perfectly! The discharge you discribed Katie and Cheese is what my doc told me is hormone related. I lost my mucus plug with my 1st and it was clear with brown/red streaks in it! In my case... delivery was about a week or a little more later than when I lost it.

It's probably leukorrhea.....the odorless or mild-smelling milky discharge that you occasionally noticed in your underwear before you were pregnant. There's just a lot more of it now, partly because of increased estrogen production and greater blood flow to the vaginal area. This discharge is made up of secretions from the cervix and vagina, old cells from the walls of the vagina, and normal bacterial flora from the vagina.

I remember having it too, it's yuck, but just the way the Lord made our bodies protect our little ones! If it gets to be too much of an irritant, you could use panty liners, but that holds the smell too much for me.

Blessings,
Amber

It is very normal to experience discharge towards the end of your pregnancy. Google it and you'll find tons of information. I lost my plug when I went to the bathroom. I saw it in the toilet. (ick) But most women never even notice that they have lost it.

Thanks Ladies! I just didn't remember having this with my first...but then again...lots of things I don't remember from then that I probably had. (Like the waddle...I didn't think I did, but my Dad informed me yesterday that I did it with the first too!)

It comes and goes and is just the milky discharge. I've been anxiously awaiting the loss of my mucus plug though~ as I hope it means these annoying contractions are about to get more persistent and the baby is ready to come on out!
