Thanks ladies haha I started packing after my water broke. Not recommended. ;) I think the car seat was in about 2 weeks prior to that. THIS time, we are going to pack in advance. Really! JRBL 06-30-2007, 09:54 AM I think around 36 weeks... there-abouts. :) MomFromCanada 06-30-2007, 04:38 PM We put the car seat in probably about 3 weeks before our dd was due, I was glad I did that because I went to the Ministry of Transportation to make sure it was in tight and the guy helped us to make sure it was. I packed my bag shortly after that. MommaBear 06-30-2007, 05:36 PM I was packed (with both kids) about a month prior just in case I needed to take out or add to. We put the carseat (just the base) in about 3 weeks before hand. HTH ~Kerri buttercup_97140 06-30-2007, 09:15 PM With Emma, we never packed because we had a homebirth, and we didn't put the carseat in until she was a few days old and I needed to drive somewhere with her. With Noah, I packed around 37 weeks or so because they kept telling me I would go into labor early on my own, which never happened (LOL) and we never put the car seat in because we didn't know if he would ever come home in it. I think packing the bag earlier than later would be good, but just having a list would be better than not having a bag packed in the even that you went early. KWIM? I don't really see a need for putting the car seat into the car until you go to the hospital unless you are going to get it inspected before hand. Blessings, Amber irishmum2boys 07-02-2007, 02:25 AM Honestly I don't remember but I think I may have been progressively doing it. Everytime I would buy something I would put it into my bag! My water broke about 8 days before my due date, although I had that feeling my baby was gong to arrive a little sooner!!!! I do remem ber putting the final touches to it just before we left for town! With my 2nd I had a scheduled c-section, so I knew I need to be packed by a certain time. By the way don't forget your slippers, I did and that is the one thing I wished I had with me! Or those soft bedsocks are great too! 4HisGlory 07-02-2007, 03:22 AM By the way don't forget your slippers, I did and that is the one thing I wished I had with me! Or those soft bedsocks are great too! I can check off the slippers...found them second hand at lots for tots  in great condition and black so if they get blood on them, no big deal. I am so glad you ladies suggested that, I would have never thought about getting some since I don't wear them at home. Aalena 07-02-2007, 08:48 AM We put the car seat in about a month before Landon was due. I started packing my bags after the dr told me I was dilated 2 cm. I figured then it could be anytime. I think I was 36w then. But I didn't have the clothing packed because I was still wearing the same clothes I did at 6 mos pg. Since I was induce, I did the final pack the night before. Katielady 07-02-2007, 10:51 AM Well, I honestly don't remember what I did with my first! Preggo brain I guess! But we got everything set to go this weekend at our house. We tried the carseat out to make sure we knew how to operate it (My mom bought us one last week! What a blessing and shock!). We did take it out though, since we know we are supposed to be hauling some big stuff later this week and it would get in the way. But it and baby's bag are packed and literally sitting nex to the front door. My bag is almost always packed. Hehe....okay, we take showers either at the state park or a friends up the road, so we have a shower/bathroom bag for each of us that is always packed and then I toss clean change of clothes and towels in every day. So...yep, that's packed already. I put a few things I'd want with me (camera, baby book, a few magazines) in the baby's bag for now. Other than that, my hospital provides virtually everything you need (including toothbrush if you forget your own!). |
