The hill that I am willing to die on. :)
Kayils and Gavin have been in thier rooms since about noon. It is now almost 4pm. They cannot come out until their room is clean. So they avoid cleaning and have been playing for the past 4 hours. No matter, they'll get hungry soon. What? You want lunch - ok - is your room clean? Bummer. Better get that done first.
I have been grabbing them for potty time every couple of hours and sending them back in. Just now Kaylis asked why I can't clean up thier room while they do something else (that's what I have been doing out of frustration). So I told her that they will not come out until thier room is clean and if they miss dinner tonight because I have eaten and put it all away then I will put them in thier pajamas and tuck them in bed in a messy room - and guess what? When they wake up in the morning - they won't come out for breakfast until their room is clean! She sighed a good long sigh of defeat and walked into the room telling her brother they'd better clean. But she must not really believe me because I hear them playing again.
For me though, this is a win win situation. I have peace and quiet in the house - no kids underway - I can clean, read, do whatever in complete peace. And when they come out - I also have a clean kids room!
Days like this I feel like a genious - LOL.
