BC pills and TTC

Just a quick question...how long should I be off bc pills before we start ttc? What's safe, what's suggested, what's normal, what did you do?

You are supposedly "safe" after your first cycle off of BC pills, no wait game...but many times it takes quite awhile for your body to adjust and get preg after being on them...up to a year or so sometimes...and sometimes it's your first try! Everyone is very different! I would definatly stop them now though if you are wanting to start to try!

I was taking b/c pills after my third baby, and when we were sure we wanted to go for number four, I called my high risk specialist doctor to ask how long I should wait before ttc after going off b/c pills. I was worried that residual hormones from the pill could maybe cause problems. Anwway, he said to get started right away and not wait at all. He said I had the best possibility of getting pregnant, immediately, right after going off the pill. He did give us one word of caution, though. He said that if we definitlely did not want twins, we should wait a month because women can often produce more than one egg right after discontinuing the pill. We went for it right away and prayed for twins. Teehee! :lol: Only two weeks later, I had my BFP!! [claploud] No twins, though. :wink:

Yeah i didn't wait to ttc with our second after taking BC. It took me about 2-3 months to get pregnant.

Thanks everyone for your advice. It's nice to not have to buy BCP and remember to take them at the same time each day. Instead I have to remember to temp at the same time each morning! But at least that doesn't cost anything! I'll let you know how it goes...

With this baby, I stopped my BC the last week of October, conceived the week of or before Thanksgiving....so, I only had one period before I got pregnant, and that was the last week of October. Praying it goes that quickly for you too!
