Tomorrow I will be 12 weeks which is actually when I told my self that I would feel more positive and comfortable with this pregnancy. Well, last night when I got home from a concert, low and behold, there was a very small smear of brown blood on my pantyliner. Now, I really wasn't TOO concerned about it until this morning when I returned home from church... there it was when I wiped, a bit more brown blood??
I certainly have read so many mixed reviews on this. Such as, "It could be your uterus expanding and breaking blood vessels" or "It could have been a cyst that burst" etc. I have not recently had intercourse and the concert was very mellow and all I did was sit there...so nothing exhausting has been going on.
I believe that I shouldn't be too concerned just yet since it is "brown" spotting and not red accompanied by cramping and/or lower back pain. (However, my lower back HAS been bothering me this week).
Have any of you experienced this and how did you deal? Did you call your doctor? Did you just wait a few days to see if it happened again?
My next doctor appointment isn't for another 2 weeks.
Thanks in advance for your input.

I'd probably call just to see if your Doc wants you in or just to take the next couple days easy. I didn't sopt with DD...I BLED. Bright red. Which was VERY scary. But she came out healthy and happy. But give your Doc a call and see what they would like you to do. Blessings to you! ~Kerri

I would also call my dr. just to check and see what he/she suggests. I bled with my DS because I had leftover blood from my miscarriage and as he grew it pushed it out. I would have been terrified if I had not had an ultrasound about a week earlier and the dr. saw the blood pocket and told me I would start bleeding soon.
Best of luck!

I had this with both of my last two pregnancies. I would call your doctor and check with him/her. My doctor had me come for a check-up. Everything was okay, but since everyone is different I would check with your doctor.

I did spot when I was prego w/ds. I went to the hospital and I had a yeast infection that caused my cervix to bleed. It was no big deal but of course it had me worried! I would go to your doc or the hospital just in case!

I had spotting with my first 5 pregnacies (2 early miscarrages, 3 babies) by the time I had my 4th and last baby I was ready for it. I never spotted the last preg. and by then that made me nervous to not have any spotting! Go figure! My Dr.'s always did exams and ultrasounds to check fro trouble and I was put on bet rest until it stopped.

I would say go see your Dr about any bleeding know mater how light.
I've had bleeding in 6 outof 7 pregnancy's only one end in miscarriage but it could be anything like a low lying placenta (placenta previa) to an infection. I would not have sex until you know for sure. I had placenta previa with my first babe and bled at 12 weeks had to have bed rest for 2 months or more and with my others they were not sure why. But last year I had only slight brown bleeding which ended in loss for us. This time I have Placenta previa again where I bled very painfully at 6 weeks until about 12 and I am now fine and babe is growing well at 30 weeks the piont is every pregnancy is different just as every chlid is different. I hope my little story does'nt scare you I'm sure you'll be fine it's just better to be check out by your Dr.
Your's in Jesus Andrea.

Yes, I did at right about 12 weeks when I was pregnant with David. I did call the doctor, and recommend you do the same (if you haven't already). Mine put me on 12 hours of bed rest. He told me if it didn't clear by the evening to come to the hospital that night for an ultrasound. I was scared, as I didn't know it was normal, especially around that time of the pregnancy. Anyway, the ultrasound revealed that everything was fine. The spotting lasted a little into the next day, and then left.
Let us know how you're doing. We're praying for you.

Thanks everyone for all your encouragement to see the doctor yesterday. It really put my mind at ease.
The nurses used a doppler and I heard the heartbeat for the first time. It was so wonderful I started to cry. To confirm that there really is a living baby growing inside of me was the most amazing thing I ever experienced. I saw the heartbeat at 9 weeks and I thought THAT was the best, but hearing it was even more fulfilling for some reason.
My doctor put me on a higher dose of prometrium to help thicken the lining of my uterus. He said I could have bled because of the surgery I had on my uterus back in '05. I guess the placenta could be burrowing into the scar tissue causing some bleeding...but this is just a guess and no cause for alarm. And there has been no other signs of spotting.
The heartbeat was healthy and I actually have my regular appointment still scheduled for next week...hopefully I will be able to see AND hear the heartbeat at the same time.
Thanks again!

I am SO glad that everything is good and that you were able to hear the heartbeat. That sound is so precious and comforting. Praying you can now relax into the second trimester, and that everything will be smooth from here on out.
