I'm the only member of my DH's family who has ever breastfed. His sister is expecting, and she's planning to do it, too. So, being the only family member who had ever done it, I'm guessing that it probably falls on me to give her as much help and encouragement as I possibly can.

For her shower, I'm getting together a breastfeeding basket for her. She's already got my old Boppy and My Breast Friend, so she's got nursing pillows. Here's a list of other things I've got in the breastfeeding basket I'm giving her at her shower.

- The Nursing Mother's Companion, by Kathleen Huggins
- 30 reuseable plastic collection cups for storage
- Avent Isis breast pump
- Breastfeeding cover-up (black)
- Lansinoh
- Six reuseable breast pads
- A cute onesie I got just for fun (Says, "I'm perfect, just like Mom")
- Some Dr. Brown's bottles for times when she has to be in public but not in a place where she can nurse easily.

Anything that I'm leaving out that you think she might need? I'm thinking about also making a list of my favorite breastfeeding sites for her to use for reference if she runs into any trouble at first. I'm just a little concerned that she'll run into trouble like I did when I first started. I was bound and determined to breastfeed, but my MIL formula fed, and I know my SIL qualifies for WIC. I'm just paranoid that with that combination of things, she'll give up before she gives it a fair shot. So, I want to give her everything that I can think of to help her do this smoothly. Am I leaving anything out that you girls think might help?

Bev the basket sounds so nice and I know she'll love it! The only other thing I think she might like is maybe a burb cloth. I used so many of those. :D

That is a really thoughtful gift! A pump would be nice, but probably not necessary and maybe kind of pricey. Maybe someone else could get this?

Your basket sounds wonderful and such a thoughtful idea! I think you have a good supply in there to get her off to a good start.

Wow! What a present. It sounds really WONDERFUL !
And I think she will know she can contact YOU should she run into trouble. Knowing that there is someone out there that can help you when you don't know what is really cool.
Remember to tell her to drink PLENTY of water!
