Help... long time no post...I know..but, my neice is BFing and has been since her 7 month old was born. She is having alot of problems now. She and the baby got thrush, treated it, and seem to keep getting it again and again (or never get rid of it IMHO.) She is now bleeding, sorry if TMI, from around her sore areas. HELP?!! anyone? :o

genetian violet is supposed to be wonderful for treating thrush

I have no personal experience.

But have heard nothing but RAVES about it. Just remember it is an alcohol based tincture and that can cause some soreness of the mouth. So, use carefully. Use as directed, no more frequently than it says. Basically, do the minimum it says to do to treat it. It should take it out in no time without much unnecessary irritation to baby's mouth.

And for mom's soreness...lanolin...grab that little purple tube of Lansinoh from WalMart or wherever and lube up as often as necessary. Let things air dry whenever possible too.

Great ideas!

I would also tell her to call her OB and/or ped. My OB office was really helpful when I was BF for the first time! I didn't have any friends with babies, and wasn't online 'back then' (lol), so I really relied on them for support! They were wonderful :)
