Can anyone tell me when Braxton Hicks may begin? I have looked on amazing pregnancy and I can't find a place where any of the articles say so.

Pretty sure I've had a few.

Mine started at around five and a half months. I'm pretty sure I was a bit early. I think around seven months is more average. I do think that you should mention it to your doc if you think you may be starting. They are almost always harmless and lead nowhere, but docs like to keep track of them anyway.

Mine started at 20 weeks. I was told that you can get them more often if you are dehydrated, that is most definitely true for me. I get them a lot less when I drink enough water.

Dehydration and to much activity can cause them. Also I seemed to have them sooner with my second and third child then with my first. I think about 5 months when I could feel my tummy getting tight but didn't really hurt until closer to 9 months.

I was going to ask this question!!!!!! I thought I might have had one at church yesterday morning. I looked it up online and found a not quite so satisfactory answer on baby center this morning.

I just searched braxton hicks contractions and made a quick read. I didn't have time for anything else this morning.

well I certainly am active! But it has only been a couple of times and certainly not painful just tight.

I am glad to hear other mothers have had the same experience, sometimes WOM (word of mouth) rings truer than medical text books!!

I am well versed with pre-term labour since I almost had my twins at 30 weeks, but this is nothing like real contractions, real contractions are much more 'insistant' (does that make sense).......

I think that mine started in the 6th month.

With my first pregnancy I never noticed them. I know now what they are and that I did have that tight hard feeling. But I can't remember when I first felt it.
This time I think it started earlier than last. Like about 16 weeks? But I'm not sure. I did have some pains that I thought were BHs but they might have been gas ....

I read that they happen all through the whole pregnancy and every 20 minutes. So obviously you hardly ever notice them. :?

Mine started in the 7th month. I found that pre natal classes informed me of the difference between that and real contractions. It is good to find out the facts and that is one of the reasons we enjoyed going.
