This so perfectly expresses a lot of my hopes and prayers for my son. As I look at him becoming 18 in a few short months...this video says it all. I HOPE I am able to SHOW them that this is what I want for them. It made me tear up!

Thank you so much for sharing. Loved that song. Makes me sad too. :( They grow up way too quick!!
Oh, oh, oh how beautiful! Love the song, but I'd never seen the clip before. Made me cry, but in a nice way, lol.
Thanks so much for sharing!! I had not seen the video, but I love that song. They are only ours for a little while; aren't they? That sums it up; hoping and praying that we give them the roots they need to grow on; and it sounds like you have done a wonderful job with your boys!!!! I'm all teary eyed too, but like meg said in a good way!

   Ok sobbing here... I know my babies are still little, but I am just thinking about the words of that song. No matter the age of our kids we still want those things for our kids.
Thanks Leslie!! You are such an awesome mom!!

Thanks so much for sharing... it's so hard to let them go.
I've been thinking lots of this poem as I get ready to send dd# 1 off to middle school and dd #3 off to Kindergarten in a few more days.
Children Are Like Kites
You spend years trying to get them off the ground.
You run with them until you are both breathless.
They crash ... they hit the roof ...
you patch, comfort and assure them that someday they will fly.
Finally, they are airborne.
They need more string, and you keep letting it out.
They tug, and with each twist of the twine,
there is sadness that goes with joy.
The kite becomes more distant,
and you know it won't be long
before that beautiful creature will snap
the lifeline that binds you together
and will soar as meant to soar
... free and alone.
Only then do you know that you have done your job.
