Does any one know how to stop slugs in the garden, me and my DD are trying to grow some vegis and sunflowers and they are under attack. Please help me I am not a gardener and my poor garden is getting a battering. I went out this morning and the top of my sunflower has been nibbled off.

Help.

You can sprinkle salt around the rows, this will almost immediately kill slugs, it dries them up. Try mixing a little salt and water in a spray bottle and spritzing your plants, stalks and all. Don't over do it though, the salt could do damage to the plants if you use too much. :D

Yeah... the salt works wonders. I can't stand the slimy critters. Good luck!

I will try that my gran mentioned something to do with tea leaves I will have to goole it later and see what it says. The only thing with the salt is that I do not keep it in my cupboard I rpefer my food without any on.

I am desperate for answers to my sluggy problem they are doing my head in, I know that they are gods creature but they are really nasty to my poor plants.

You can also dig a hole big enough to put in a tuna can so that it is level with the ground. Pour in some beer. They crawl in to get the beer and drown!

That sounds fantastic I will have to give that one a try, at the moment we have sprinkled cat repellent to stop the cats and salt to stop the slugs. What ever is eating my plants will hopefully stop soon, it wouldn't be too bad if it was my garden but Sinead made it and she gets very upset if something bad happens to it.

Thank you guys but I think that it isn't just slugs that are invading my garden and unfortuantly it is looking worse than ever. I went out the other day and something had bitten the top off a sunflower and the rest of the vegi's have hole's in the leafs and slugs in their pots. Maybe they all thought that my garden was too tasty and decided to eat it early.
