Hello ladies,

DH and I had a good appt. with my ob/gyn yesterday. She was willing to look at my charts and seemed to accept them as a good indication that I'm ovulating. I'm very thankful for that. She did just as I expected and ordered CD 3 and 21 bloodwork, an HSG and SA.
My question is, is the CD 21 blood draw supposed to be timed a week after O or a week before your period? I have 29-30 day cycles, and I O around CD 18-19, so should I really have it done on CD 21 or wait till a week after O? One of the things I'm concerned about is a possible progesterone deficiency, so I want to make sure I get accurate results from this test.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts you can share.

I would share the concern with one of the nurses at the office and they should be able to get a better idea of the timing for you. I always thought it was supposed to be around a week after ovulation.

Good luck!!

Hi Julie....

"Day 21" progesterone test is actually not necessarily on "day 21"...if your cycle is 28 days, then it is on day 21. If your cycle is 29-30 days it should be done on day 22 or 23. Essentially it is supposed to be done 7 days before your next AF is due (most studies show anytime between day 5-9 post-ovulation is accurate). Hope this hasn't confused you! Praying for you!
