It's been a few years so I may not be remembering correctly- but I am getting worried about the amount of bleeding I'm having post partum. The first week I couldn't believe how light it was. I had baby#4 via c-section#3. Then during the middle of week two it really increased again. It had tapered off the last few days and is now back in full force. This coming Sunday makes three full weeks. I'm scheduled to see my doc on June 4th anyway but hate to go in before that because my doc is always running about 2hrs behind and it is so hard to take my preemie (and her apnea monitor) out and about for that long. I think it's somewhat related to my activity level. I have definitely rested a lot less this time around first running back and forth to the NICU and then entertaining out of town guests. Any advice or opinions would be appreciated!

Three weeks is very normal to still be going from what I understand.
When I had katherine my lochia went up and down with activity level too, also depended on how long I was laying down etc... it varied wildly from day to day but nothing was wrong and I didn't get any of those large clots or bright red bleeding they advise you to go in for. I would call in to the doc for reassurance but, it sounds normal to me. Just take it easy and relax.... don't do too much activity, my SIL hurt herself really bad after having one of her kids because she pushed herself too far too soon.... so it is very important to rest.

I completely agree that your excessive bleeding is probably related to your activity level. So, yeah, slow way down whenever you can. I had similar issues after my babies. I think it was with either #3 or #4 that my bleeding stayed excessive and my doc prescribed meds that caused me to expel my unterine lining in a matter of hours. It hurt like having a miscarriage and there was a lot of very heavy bleeding. Take it easy, even though it's really hard with so many little ones. If you can get over this hump, you'll be in the clear in no time. :D

I only bled for 4 days postpartum with my DS but that is quite rare. I bled steady for several weeks after DD was born. I think what you are experiencing is normal but if you have any concerns call your dr's office and ask to speak to a nurse about it. She can tell you if what you are experiencing is normal.

I bled a lot longer than three weeks after I had Maddy...so I wouldn't worry about it too much! Try not to worry!
