We have a car seat that we used with both boys and it was probably made 8 years ago and we started using it 7 years ago. I am trying to decide what to do with it since our 4 yr. old has outgrown it. Most places won't accept used car seats (for donation or resell) and I understand that but where can I take it? It's in good condition, never been in an accident, etc. but I don't even know someone who could use it or would want it. It's the infant/toddler seat that is rear facing and forward facing. Not sure if I should just continue to keep it or what! It's just taking up space in the garage.

I would just toss it....they reccomend not using carseats for more than 5 years due to safety features changing and the foam breaking down just from normal wear and tear!

yep, like previously stated. They recommend not using a car seat for more than 5 years. I would just put it out on trash day!
Does it have a sticker on the side with an expiry date on it? If it's not expired then I would probably give it away or something.
If it's expired then chuck it!

If you're going to toss it, make sure you cut out the straps first. Just so that no one can use it, then blame you if something happens!

Isn't it sad that someone might even do that? Oh, the world we live in. :(

I would check on the expiration date too or you could take it by your local police station and have them tell you what they think you should do with it. If it is still good you might want to donate it to the police station or to family and children services because I know that sometimes they need one on the spur of the moment when they are taking a child out of a bad situation. Good idea to check the expiration date. Someone even told us to do this before we purchased it, as some stores may sell and then the date be up in a couple years, so it is a good thing to check that. I didn't even know about the expiration date until someone told me! When I visit my parents though we used an expired seat someone loaned to us, it's good for the time being because we do not visit a lot since they are such a distance away.
