Ok, now that ds is getting bigger, he isnt interested in his baby toys anymore. I'm at a loss to try to find things he likes to play with. We purchased him an activity table (Playskool, I think) second hand and he really likes that. Other than that, he really doesn't have any toys for toddlers. I still have loads of baby/infant toys, but he's just not interested in them anymore. Any suggestions? :? What do you and you little ones like to play with at this stage???

My son is 9 mos. old so we haven't hit those stages yet, but I have a lot of nieces and nephews and experienced their toddler years. My nephews were very much into cars, trucks, and blocks. Those were always around the house. It is a fun age.

'coloring', blocks, shape sorter, ball popper/blaster, cars, kitchen stuff - we have the works kitchen... pretend food, dishes, stainless cookware, stove, oven, fridge, etc etc etc.

Carolyn, can you tell what he likes or gravitates toward? Trucks? Cars? Trains? Blocks? If he's in the nursery at church, where does he go to play? Does he point out cars or tractors when you're in the car? Does he have a favorite movie? What does he pick up around the house and carry around or try to talk about? All four of ours were so different. Some of the most expensive toys didn't appeal to them at all. My son LOVED power tools. We got him toy power tools. He also loved Hot Wheels. Carried them all over. He loved Bat Man. We had tons of action figures. My third child had a crayon in her hand every waking moment. A really great idea is to take him to the toy store and follow him around. Find out which toys he doesn't want to put back on the shelf.

I have a ds 15months and the litte guy I babysit is also 15months. Their favorite toys fall into 1 of 3 categories.
1) Balls, any and all sizes and kinds.
2) Cars, trucks, and trains any thing they can roll.
3) Containers - tupperware, plastic dishes, empty yogurt containers, empty popbottles, empty cottage cheese containers, boxes any thing they can stack or put things in.

I hope you find some good toys for your son.

Hmmm it really depends on the child. I usually just go to the toy store and find something that is for the age group Abby is and if it looks like something she'd like then I get it. It was her 2nd birthday on Friday and yesterday I was at the store getting a potty seat and I saw a Thomas the Tank Engine toy that says 12 months + and I just knew she would love it. So I got it  She loves it! :)

My son loved a giant cardboard box. He played with it for a week straight, and still loves it. Cheapest toy I ever had. :)

Yeah, my dad always saved those when I was little. I would make houses and tunnels, make 3 cuts to open windows..., it was a lot of fun! And you can color all over them!
