Bullies

So, my 1st grader has had his lunch box stolen, his jacket stolen, and now every day his back up lunch bag has all sorts of mess in it when he comes home. He says that 2 older girls that are bullies are doing this, but he doesn't know their names because they are in another class.

WWYD?

I am lost on what to do.

At first, we thought these items were lost, but we've checked all the lost and found and nothing. I mean, seriously, who takes a lunch bag and jacket that are clearly labeled?! The lunch box is a soft side one, and I wrote his name on the FRONT outside, with a paint pen, very large.
The jacket is the same way, fully, largely labeled with a sharpie.

I would start with the teacher, Rach, and let her know what's going on. I would also find out when this is happening and if it's at lunch, what teacher/aide is on duty and let her/him know. I'm sure the teacher would want to know if one of her students is being bullied (particularly a first grader).

I agree with Madre to start with the teacher. Talk to the teacher and let her know what is going on. Our school is very strict with the anti-bullying policy and action is taken when it is brought to the teacher's attention. Best of luck!!

start with the teacher....and make sure the principal is in the loop since it involves the children of other teachers...

I agree - start with the teacher. My son's school has a social worker on staff - at the beginning of the year he goes around to all the classes and talks about bullying. If this situation were happening with my son, I would tell the teacher and this social worker (don't know if your school has someone like that or not).
