Well, I had my appointment yesterday and left in a state of shock. Going in thinking that nothing has changed since I have 3 weeks to go and this is our first, I figured we had a few more weeks before any changes. But of course, I know it can still be a while, but we're still excited.
Everything went really well, Landon's heartbeat is great. I am now 2cm and 50% effaced.
I haven't had any contractions, but I do have waves of sickness. I'll be sick feeling for a couple hours - even throwing up. Then it passes and I'm fine. That's about it.
Do you think it could be much longer?
I don't know, it could be. I was 1cm dilated and 90% effaced for about 3 weeks and then I finally started getting contractions. I'll be praying for you though.

walked around 3 to 4 cm and 80 to 90% effaced for 4 weeks....you could have awhile! Good luck! You could go like you are for a month or so! Many do!

What a blessing that your body is getting ready! Not to burst your bubble, because any progress is just that much less you have to do during labor, but I was 90% effaced from 33 weeks on, and started to dialate around then too. I was a good 1-2 for a few weeks and by the time I went into labor at 40w6d I was about a 3.
Your cervix can efface and "deface" (is that a word?) so you may be 50% effaced at one moment and 20% the next. But, your body is getting ready, and is obviously knowing some of what it has to do to get your baby out!!!
That's weird about you getting sick here and there. I know there are women who throw up during labor, did you tell your doc about these episodes? I knew a woman who literally could not stop throwing up once she started...I think part of her thing was mental, but she did it with both her kids, and had to have meds to stop....not trying to scare you...because it could be nothing for you duing labor, but you might want to chat with your doc about it and options in case that happens!
The Lord knows your little one's birthday...has for eternity, so rest in his perfect timing. It's hard when it's your first because you want to meet that little one, and have NO idea what labor will be like...but enjoy this time...it goes so fast!!!
Blessing to you,
Amber

don't worry about the nausea...mine came back strong the end too...right on through delivery....ugh! It happens, I found that always keeping my mouth moist with a drink with carbonation helped....kind of kicked the gag reflex a little with the carbonation!

I have three weeks until my full term due date and two until my c-section with my second and I am not dialated at all, but my cervix is starting to soften.
I think everyone's body is so different.
Good luck to you though!

Wow, you are getting close! We will be all looking forward to hearing about your ds's arrival. I
don't want to scare you but I got pretty sick too during my pregnancy and up until the end and I found out after my ds was born that I was having gall bladder attacks, I had my gall bladder removed 6 weeks later! Anyway hopefully it is nothing to do with your gall bladder, but thought I would mention it!

That is so exciting that it is almost time! Even if you do not go into labor for a few more weeks, it is a good sign that your body is revving up for it :)
