There can be a lot of them. Swelling, shortness of breath, rash, red patches of skin around the mouth where food touched, vomiting, to name a few. Check in your baby book if you have one, such as what to expect the first year. Beware of certain foods that are more likely to cause allergic reactions such as nuts, strawberries, dairy products, until they are past a year. If you have any doubts error on the side of caution. I have a cousin who is deathly allergic to peanuts in any form also legumes. She had it from when she was very small and thankfully they caught the problem quickly. Check with your doctor if you are worried.

Maddy's been like that before...I honestly don't think that it's the bananas.

it's an allergy that's mostly rare, but it could be the bananas. A friend of mine is fatally allergic to them, and though my sister isn't that bad, if she eats just half of a small one, she'll spend the next day or so in and out of the bathroom with diarrhea and vomiting. If I eat more than one I get a tummy ache, but I think it's normal.
Also, bananas are VERY high in their sugar content and if you haven't given her a lot of sugar, it could have just "tacked her up" a bit and being that small, she doesn't know how to handle it. As a side note to this, too, mashed bananas are great for a diabetic when their glucose drops. that's what we use with my mom a good bit.
but as for signs, they can be as simple as just having a headache after eating it, all the way to anaphalaxis. any signs in a person that doesn't occur when eating other foods no matter how small should be taken as an allergy, whether slight or extreme. In some instances, continually eating something can worsen the symptoms. I would wait a few weeks, then feed her only things you know she's ok with for a few days, try the bananas again, and if the same thing, I'd give up bananas until after her first birthday, at least.
But, in McKenna's situation, you said 2-3 hours later, and most allergic reactions are immediate, so I would lean more to either teething or the sugar. Just my opinion though, and I'm not a doc. just a mom of kids who allergic to just about everything

They could have given her a bad gas attack. That would explain why it was awhile later. Both of our girls get very constipated from bananas and when they were babies it would make them really fussy. I don't give them to them anymore, except sometimes the 3 yr old has a half. I would just cut them out if they don't sit well with her.
