Lawson is only 16 months old and normally I wouldn't even consider starting potty training this early but he seems to want to start. He goes to the bathroom door, which I keep closed and locked so he cant get into stuff, and he pulls his pants down. Most of the time its after he already pooped but a couple days ago he did this so I put him on the toilet to see what he'd do and he went poop in the toilet! I was surprised to say the least but now what? Should I bring out the potty? I don't want to introduce it too soon and then have him lose intrest. Brooke was fully pt at 18 months, but she has been more advanced then Lawson in all other areas too. She could speak in full sentences by now where Lawson only says a few words. I know hes not completely ready.. he still soaks his diaper at night and he can get his clothes off but not on. I just don't know if I should encourage his interest or wait until hes showing more signs of readiness?

I wouldn't discourage him. I don't think it's too early to bring out the potty, especially if he's showing interest. My dd started showing interest at around 18 months and knew what to do then. She's going on 3 and is still not fully pt. She will go when she feels like it. I'm starting to push a little more now that she's almost 3. I would just go with the flow (no pun intended) and let him go if he's interested. He may go through periods of disinterest, but I wouldn't worry too much about it since he is still young.

most kids aren't ready that early, but Gabe was fully trained about two months before he turned two, and we didn't "train" him, he just trained himself at that age, just by watching daddy
with that thought in mind, maybe put the potty out, (he's already put two and two together, so to speak) move everything he can get into and leave the door open to see what he does.
maybe use a pull on pull off or pull on snap off aio trainer to see how that helps too.
this young, go for it, but let him lead, at least is my opinion.

let him go, make it all easily available to him, encourage him...but don't push! He's younger, but some go that soon! Awesome for you and your diaper bill!

By all means...go with it. Take whatever he'll give you. Just remember to *not* get discouraged if he backs out after a bit. Just encourage all you can. I've had kids start sitting on the potty at age one. Hubby sat him on there and said "pee" and he did. From that point on LOL He was out of diapers at 18 mo. Yes, even at night. But he's the only one, out of 4 that have 'trained' thus far hehe
Anywho, no, not too early. Go ahead and give it a try :)

I can't hurt to go for it. :) Just dont be disappointed if he loses interest and the first attempt is not successful. :? But you can always be pleasantly surprised as well!

Good luck with the PTing! I say if he's showing signs of interest then let him give it a try!
