I posted about this in the check in thread, but I'm impatient, so am posting in my own thread too. lol I had my bloodwork done again this week to see if my iron levels have come back up after being on a supplement for two months and it has. :) However, the blood test also showed that I have low platelets (115). My midwife says that it isn't anything to be concerned about, but that if they go below 100 then it can be an issue. She said there isn't much that can be done other than drinking purple grape juice. (??) Weird, but I can do that.
I've never heard of this before. Did a bit on research on the 'net and it seems that 7-8% of pregnant women experience this. Most go on to have normal deliveries without issue. It's also a symptom of scary things like HELLP syndrome (I have three friends who experienced this) but that isn't a concern for me because I don't have ANY other symptoms. (Right now anyway. You know how you shouldn't self-diagnose on google? Well apparently you shouldn't ask about low platelets when you have three friends who have had HELLP in the past. Trying to trust God in this and not stress.)
Just curious if anyone else has ever heard of this? I'm not thrilled to have been thrown a curveball this late in the game.
