View Full Version : Figuring Out a Fit

Well it's me again. I should do a search to see how many times I've reintroduced myself. Why does this happen to me?

Anyway, my name is Jaylene. I'm a SAHM living in Alberta with my husband and three kids. James is 9, David is 6 and Elizabeth is 4. My husband is self employeed and so technically am I, as we own a limited company. I do the books, can drive the forklift when required, and have been known to deliver freight (never in a semi, I can't do that).

What else? Well I love reading, fooling around on the computer, and horses. We have two horses now and I don't ride nearly as much as I should. I'm also lazy!

My two oldest go to a local Christian school and Elizabeth is currently in preschool, she'll start K in the fall at the same school as the boys.

I've been a part of C'Mom's for about 6-ish years. Before the big crash anyway! But I haven't been an active part for a long time.

Why? This is what I ask myself. I have met some of you, 3 I think. I feel like I know many more of you, maybe it's parasitic, I've said that before, because I do tend to just not comment.

Often I feel like while I might have wisdom I could add, it's not really necessary, or someone with more experience would be able to comment better, or I don't want to fill up responses with "ditto". I don't know that any are valid reasons, they just are.

I think part of it is just figuring out a fit. Trying to figure out what role I want to play in the community. I don't know right now. I love coming on and checking out what's going on, but don't feel like sharing what's going on with me. I'm not that quiet in real life! So what's up with me?

Anyway, will give this a try again, one time it has to stick. And send me a message, e-mail, or something on facebook to keep me accountable if you miss me! LOL

Welcome back...again! ;). I think we all wonder where we fit from time to time, don't worry about it. Nobody minds a "ditto". :)

Ditto. [rotfl]

Seriously though, just do what you are comfortable with! And I'm so glad to see you posted, because I was *just* thinking of you in the last couple of weeks. Wish I hadn't been so crazy busy with Fiona's surgery (info on that in the prayer request thread) or I would have likely sent you a message. :D Anyway, glad to see you back, Jay!! [lovesmile]

Hi again! I've been missin' you too! I didn't know you had horses, I would love a horse but yeah we don't have any land or money to buy a horse let alone take care of one haha. But one day I would love to go galloping at full speed on a horse across the countryside, always wanted to do that lol. Glad to have you back!

YA!!!! welcome back! So glad you are. I also Ditto what Jen said[rotfl] we all feel that way, where sometimes we don't know where we fit or that these girls are way close, and your not. I just look at c'moms as a long distance family, that when I am around I am part of it, and when I am not, we are all in each other's thoughs

LOL Eva, come ride my horses any time! I got bucked off shortly after we got them and I've been chicken to really ride them since. I do ride them, but don't really see how fast they can go. I don't know a lot of horse people around here and dh isn't a rider, so it's pretty difficult to figure out what's going on in the horse's minds. So it's mostly walking with a little trotting once in a while. Or I ride with Elizabeth, I lead her horse and then it's just a walk. She "holds on no matter what!"

Becky, that's a good way to put it. When we're on here, we're visiting and when not on here, in each other's thoughts. I do think of you all often in my day, and as I said, I do follow the posts, just not much commenting, so yeah, think of you all bunches! But I'm coming for an extended visit now.

I did get my laptop fixed, I had replaced it with a desktop when the laptop crashed, but sitting over in the cold with my desktop wasn't as nice, so I was even going on the computer less. But now, with my laptop, I can sit by the fire and be all toasty warm, plus the laptop throws off heat! So it's all good. Hopefully that will bring me back more too... or at least until DH realizes the joy of the laptop over the desktop and commandeers it for himself!

Hi Jaylene, welcome back!

I think that we all get to feeling that way once in awhile. I'll have periods where I just don't comment very much either.

I totally hear the "fit" part.. as you can probably imagine.
Ditto is fine, altho there is a 10 character min so it'd have to be "Ditto....." ;).

It is good to hear from you[welcomehi].

I've totally missed you! Good to have you back and I also echo (not ditto!) what the others have said... the point of this forum is not to have pressure to get your post count up, but to get help/support/fellowship when you need it! So welcome back and relax :)

It's not that I feel I need to post more, just that I need to contribute and I feel like I have nothing to contribute. I'm not looking for the assurances that I have something to add, or feeling down on myself. I just find that I learn so much from sitting back and watching all of you discuss. But then I feel like I should be contributing, but what?

But thank-you all for your responses. It is good to be missed, and getting back involved makes me more interested in coming back in. It's a circular

Hi Jaylene! I've been in one of those phases too. Trying to push through and be more of a presence. :) I read a lot and try to just add a little something, even just to let the person know I read it. Anyway, I look forward to seein' ya around more again. :)
