My ds is almost 4 months. I haven't left him anywhere for more than a few hours mainly because I am exculsively b/f him and of course I hate to leave him! Over the past week or so he only wants to be with me. He cries if anyone else holds him and I am not in sight. It's so sweet that he loves me and I love that he knows me but I am worried that it is going to get worse! He even gets upset when dh has him. Any suggestions? I am not sure if this is a phase that is age appropriate or if I am doing something wrong...

Maddy went through that around the time that she was 3-4 months old...even when Bill held her...she wasn't happy. It didn't last long, about a couple weeks...but from what I've read and what I'm experiencing, it's not seperation anxiety. Seperation anxiety usually starts a little but later than 4 months...but I could be wrong, every baby IS different. I think that Maddy's going through a touch of the anxiety right now...not smiling for strangers any more....being more reserved and cuddly with me. Just keep in mind, "This too shall pass"...he'll get over it...Maddy did. Meanwhile, just enjoy the fact that he loves you and finds comfort in you! I hope that this helps!

I think it is most likely a stage. All of my three went through and they all outgrew it within about a month. Dont feel bad and don't make them go to other people because it doesn't help them get over it any faster. They just need to know that their "food supply" is nearby and to smell and feel their mommy. You are the biggest constant in their life and it helps them feel secure to have you near. They will probably do it again once they are a little older too. Dd #3 is 9 mo. and she has started doing it again. Oh well, enjoy while they still want to be held!
