Do you dress the same or different if you are just going to be at home? Or do you bother to change into your "normal" clothes at all? Is it just pjs if you're going to be at home?

I wear some form of glorified loungewear at home. Like this: http://coolspotters.com/clothing/jcrew-skinny-ultra-lounge-pant (the 19-21" version in the summer) with a "perfect t" as they call it, plus a cardi when it's cool. And usually have my hair up and roam around barefoot. It's Saturday every day.

I work from home, and I tend to stay in my Pj's or yoga pants and a tank. I try to actually get dressed though because it makes me feel more productive. Then I try to freshen up before DH gets home. :)

I stay in my PJs. I do need to start getting dressed fully though (jeans and a top).

So I must really be the odd ball here:) The first thing I do every morning is my hair (sometimes my makeup) and get dressed for the day:) Yeah, I have my not-so-nice clothes for around the house, but if I don't do all that I can't get myself motivated to do anything!

I stay in my pj's if I'm in the house. They are way more comfy than wearing jeans. If I know someone is coming over then I get dressed in normal clothes.

here I sit, in my Pj's and tank top [cheerful] I also am a pj girl at home. Since having a post partum (can I still say that with a 15 month old [shhh]) body, It's hard to find pants that fit well and are comfortable. So as soon as I am home, into jammies I go. I do like your lounge pants Rachel! Maybe I should start wearing a cute comfy outfit like that, so I don't feel like I am going to bed all the time. [thankssign]

If you're odd, so am I, Anna. :-) I shower and get dressed first thing (well, that's relative...I mean first thing after feeding the baby, feeding my husband, packing his lunch, getting him off to work, catching an extra few minutes of sleep if the kids are still sleeping, then feeding myself and Noah, and usually feeding the baby again!) every morning. If things are going well I usually fix my hair and put on a little makeup right away--that way, if I don't get back to it, at least I feel presentable. I've spent a little more time in warm-ups or jammy pants since Meg came, but I'm pretty much back in my routine now. Getting dressed first thing is "normal" for our family, but my husband and I both grew up in homeschooling families whose dads worked from home, so most of our lives have been lived from home...the discipline of getting dressed for the day, even when not going anywhere, has always just been part of life.

I am usually in some form of pj's or lounge wear here, but I have noticed that if I put on shoes (even flip flops) I am way more productive than if I am barefoot - so weird! But being all the way dressed-up doesn't make me more productive than pjs and then I am cross when my nicer clothes are covered in flour and sticky baby handprints, lol.

I have to get showered and dressed! Sometimes I am late or get busy with kiddos and I live in fear of the doorbell ringing and getting caught. :) Plus I feel soo much better and ready to face the day. I wear jeans and a tee everyday and I love when the summer sun comes out and I am finally warm enough to wear skirts. [clap]

LOL this is a big issue for me, too--I live in a very accessible location (right across the street from our church and therefore my in-laws) and have lots of family/church friends in the area who might drop in at any time. It motivates me to keep my house presentable, too! :-)

This is me, not necessarily across from church but we have a lot of drop ins between family/friends, which I love! I am a lot more motivated and productive when I'm dressed and ready to go for the day. :)

I sometimes wish I'd have more people dropping by so I'd have that extra motivation to keep the house looking nice. Although that's gotten much better lately!

I wear comfy clothes most of the day, then change before dh gets home. I don't do my hair or make up unless I go out. my hair is usually in a pony tail and my bangs braided back. I do brush my teeth! :) lol Right now, I have on my reebox easytones, grey stretch pants (workout clothes) knee high socks over them (teal with thin white stripes) spaghetti strap tank with shelf bra and white cardigan. lol I should take a picture. Actually I might wear this to go zumba in! [clap]

Depends greatly on the day! I always shower and put a little makeup on first thing... don't usually do a lot with my hair unless I'm going out. I like to wear "real" clothes most of the time but now being pregnant I lean more toward yoga pants and a decent tee. I feel so much better about myself and I'm in a much better mood toward everyone if I look/feel good... :)

I rarely lounge in my pj's. If I'm not feeling well/bloated, I might put them on. But other than that, I basically live in my jeans. I put them right back on once I'm home from church and don't take them off until the following week... OK, I put on clean ones during the week, and I don't sleep in them...

DH does work from home some and we sometimes have people coming by who need to get their trucks loaded, etc. If he's not home, it's up to me, I don't want to get caught in my pj's.

Plus the horses are my department, so I have to go outside every morning and feed them, and I can't do that in pj's. So yep, I have to get dressed every morning!

I get dressed mid-day. We start out slow, do some school and then during lunch I hop in the shower and get dressed. But I normally wear yoga pants or something equally as comfy for being in the house. If I'm going out I will wear jeans.

I like this question. I've been a stay at home wife/mom for 20 years now, and when I first started staying home, I contemplated the importance of my attire and what I did every day in a totally new way.

I've said before that my hubby left for work before six in the morning and didn't return home until ten at night every day for years. In the first couple of weeks of my stay home days, I wondered if it was important for me to get dressed every day, clean the whole house, make the bed, etc, if no one was going to see me or our home at all. I was still in bed sleeping when hubby left for work, and I'd be back in jammies and our bed turned down when he got home at night, so, what's the point? [whatthink]

The Lord showed me in those first weeks how important it was for me and my personality to take a shower, get dressed, and clean the house every day, even if not one person would ever notice or care. I didn't realize at the time just how important it would be to my self esteem, identity and sense of accomplishment!

That said, I wear comfortable but attractive clothes at home. Not sweats. I want to be guest ready, just in case, and look pretty for my hubby when he comes home, just to show I care. But I also want to feel good about myself, at the same time as being comfortable and 'ready for anything', especially with kids... and for cleaning, too.

A couple of sillyish things: teehee! Sleeves are super important to me. I need enough sleeve that I don't freeze to death, but they need to be push-upable so I can wash dishes and do other things without them getting in the way. Bugs me to no end when sleeves slide down and get in my way. Also, I wear my string of heirloom pearls every single day because of an inside joke my hubby made about June Cleaver having nothin' on me! LOL!! [rotfl] The pearls are my little wink to him, and now to my kids.

I loved your response, Joy! My is quite similar. I've been a stay at home wife/mum for 14 years now, so I've had a bit of time to think about this aspect of my day/role.

I tried the whole sweats/pjs thing when I first started staying home, when I was pregnant with my first. However, it didn't feel like me. I feel like I can't start my day unless I've showered, done my hair, and gotten dressed.

Nowadays, a big part of that is because I'm leaving to take youngest ds to school, then usually running errands for most of the morning. Dh works locally, so it's quite possible that I might bump into him and/or his colleagues while I'm out and about, so I like to make sure I'm looking presentable. Not super dressy, but that's just as much not me as sweats are, lol.

Most days I'm looking for a comfortable, classic look that works for the school run, grocery shopping, lunch with a friend, etc. So, nice jeans, a top or a t-shirt with a pretty neckline, flat, slip on shoes, a nice cardigan if it's cool, and minimal jewellery. Or on a hot day, a cute skirt or 3/4 jeans instead of long jeans.

The one exception to this is on days when I will be doing lots of heavy housework. I get dressed as above to take ds to school, then get changed into old clothes to do my cleaning, then shower and change again, lol!

I shower first thing in the morning, do my hair (nothing too fancy lol), and get dressed in reg. Clothes. Casual, but nice. Usually jeans and a sweater, polar fleece, nicer t-shirt with a jacket or zip up sweater, a necklace depending on the outfit. Lots of barefeet though. :). I feel much frsher and ready to start my day. My time in the shower is also my prayer time for the day, just me and the Lord. ;). No distractions. The one exception, as Meg said, is if I'm going to doing some heavy duty cleaning or yard work. Then I'll wear my old sweats and shower later. Even with homeschooling, and not HAVING to leave the house, the day goes much better when I'm prepared.
