So I think there was this topic someplace else, but I can't find it/I was too lazy to find it  So I am starting it here again. It is a bit early for me to start packing, but I just want to know what all I should have in mine....so my question is what is in YOUR diaper bag?
diapers (obviously), wipes, a change of clothes, hand wipes, little bags for dirty diapers, a blanket for baby and a blanket for breast feeding, a spit up rag, a changing pad...I think that's it! It used to be so easy to leave the house :D

I prefer to travel as light as possible. I go with the minimum essentials. This is when baby was first born:
Diapers - 1 for each hour out on average (unless diarrhea has been a problem)
Clothes - 1 change (2, if diarrhea has been a problem) Make sure to have a covering for baby's head. Dr. says that it where baby's lose most heat.
Bottle of sterile water - enough to mix with formula to feed for time we are out and the powder to mix with it in a separate baggy or container.
Blanket or clothing layers to accomodate if evening weather gets colder.
Baby wipes - travel pack size- I wipe my hands on them as well, then use
Hand Sanitizer - travel size.
Pacifiers (2) - 1 and a spare
Changing pad
Burp cloths (2) - I only use cloth diapers, the pre-folded kind are GREAT!!!
No toys for newborns, but now I add toys and don't have to sterilize the water, so I only pack the dry bottle with the formula powder in it and I use tap city water.
HTH! I also hope I didn't forget anything.....ok, well, maybe the Kitchen Sink! LOL

Diapers, wipes (Huggies makes a nice reusable travel case), diaper rash cream for just in case, lotion, clothes, changing pad, my wallet, phone and keys (I gave up carrying both the diaper bag and purse). Now, toys on top of that. Now that we are starting to really eat food, I will have to pack that as well. And a sippy cup (she can drink out of it already...)
I also got rid of the purse! One less thing to carry really helps:)

I did that, too, once! Got rid of the purse and combined it all into diaper bag. UNFORTUNATELY, someone stole the diaper bag out of my shopping cart and I nearly lost EVERYTHING! Including a beautiful bracelet my DH gave me for a Christmas gift. I luckily didn't have any money and was able to cancel the checks and credit cards! Found it better to keep them separate. It was DH who left the diaper bag in the cart when I got the baby and had walked away.

Great question, Becky. I was going to post this soon, too! I have just packed my large bag and the small one. I think I've packed too much, but being a first time mom, I wasn't sure. So far, I'm doing pretty well. I have packed a couple extra outfits that I think I need though. Thanks for all the advice ladies.

I don't need anything when I get to carry the big purse. And the fact that I have a potty trained 3 yo helps too.
But - he likes to carry a small nemo backpack with a couple of books and toys every day to daycare (also change of clothes just in case an accident happens). So, I don't haul it anymore - he does!
You guys would laugh if you saw my diaper bag. It used to be full of all the essential items that you need for changing a baby. Now, it's about 95% toys! I feel like I'm carrying toys-r-us with me. But dd is so very playful that she needs toys where ever she goes. So, I think I carry a diaper or two, wipes, diaper sacks, her water cup, and did I mention toys galore!!

You all covered it all pretty well... but I always made sure I carried Baby gas medicine, baby tylenol, band-aids, important phone numbers on a notepad and babies important info for quick access at doctors offices and such.

I was nursing mine so I always kept extra nursing pads and lanolin in addition to diapers, wipes, outfit, extra pacifier, and a few toys. Also several burp rags and my stuff(no purse, no arms left for it  ) Vaseline for sore bottoms or Aquaphor. I think that is about it, but you never know what is lurking down with the dirty Kleenex and socks!

A few diapers
my wallet
my cell phone
at least 1 snack
junk mail
Thats about it....I try to travel pretty light!
Having a messenger bag style purse has been my way of avoiding carrying a diaper bag. Now that my son is almost 10 months, I just throw a diaper or two in my purse and a ziploc baggie with a few wipes in it and we're good to go. Of course, my car is chock full of baby stuff too, but that's another story...

A couple of AIO's, wet bag, wash cloth, and that's it. They have car toys that I just transfer to the shopping cart when we're out. And with a 10 mo, I have the luxury of not having to nurse in public anymore. If we accidentally stay out too long, I just go to the van, where I've got receiving blankets for cover-up.
My pediatrician laughed at my diaper bag when Tory was first born. She said that first time moms always have huge diaper bags, but she could tell that Tory was my second, since I was had nothing but just what we'd need in a small bag. I keep all the 'in case' stuff (Tylenol, etc.) in the glove compartment so I'm not loaded down.
