View Full Version : Does the sickness ever go away?
weedlewub 03-20-2007, 09:42 AM I was so sick for the first 2 months I lost 10 pounds. I couldn't eat anything and keep it down. It was the worst expereience of my life.
Then, during the third month it's like I turned a new page. My doctor had made me take a leave of absence from teaching dance classes until I felt better. The extra rest did wonders. For the first few weeks I would only be sick on and off. Then, for the last two weeks nothing. I felt great. It was like I wasn't even pregnant anymore.
Now, this morning after two weeks on feeling perfectly normal, I throw up again. I thought it was over. What is going on with me?
Do you think it's back again? Is this normal?
You know... for three of my five, I felt like that until I was about three to five months along... then I felt pretty good... just some food aversions or cravings...
With the twins... it was ALL NINE MONTHS! I only gained about 15 pounds with them... and they were almost six pounds each at birth.... and I delivered at 35 weeks... Think maybe you have twins? Is this your first? I felt worst with my first! I hope you feel better soon, Ma-dear.
weedlewub 03-20-2007, 10:04 AM Well, it's not twins, but it is my first. My mother was sick with me for about 7 months. I am starting to think she passed that to me :(
I can handle it on the weekends and evenings. It's just miserable being at work and having to function like this.
Conch06 03-20-2007, 10:29 AM Aw I hope you feel better soon. I found that I was sick up until about 22 weeks. Up till then I had a week here and there that weren't as bad but it was mostly a daily thing. I hope that you're able to find something that helps you feel better in the meantime.
Katielady 03-20-2007, 10:34 AM With my first - nothing. No sickness, no pains, aches, really didn't feel pregnant at all til contractions hit.
This one - sick as a dog from pretty much the day after he was conceived until that 9-10 week mark. Then it disappeared and I'm pretty much good when it comes to the nausea. I do still have a strange gag reflex. Like eating mashed potatoes this weekend, gagged, couldn't keep them down. Not sick really, just sensitive gag thing going on.
My mom was sick the whole 9 months with both me and my sister. Just praying that your mom didn't send those vibes your way! Keep your chin up, it will get better and it is all worth it in the end.
4HisGlory 03-20-2007, 12:30 PM I am JUST like you. I was sick and could hardly eat anything I lost 5lbs, finally around 10 -12weeks I felt wonderful not nauseas just food adversions, but once I hit 13 weeks my nausea is back...not as bad as before but it is still there. I find it much worse if I get hungry or lay on my belly or dh lays on my belly. My gag reflex is at an all time high, I can barly brush my teeth, and if I do it too long it will send me to the toilet. Anyways since this is my first too, I have no clue how much longer it will last, but at least it is helping me not gain too much weight too fast :D I will keep you in my prayers that this lets up soon
Marlo Boux 03-20-2007, 04:28 PM everyone is so different and so is every pregnancy! With my first I was over it after three months, with my second I was sick the whole time except months 5-7 and this time...well I am queasy but have had BIG problems with the iron levels in my prenatal vitamins and they have made me really quite ill. Praying for you ((hugs))
With my first I wasn't sick at all. With this one I was sick for the first 10 weeks and then it subsided and now it feels like it's coming back bcuz the last few days I have felt really nauseous again. Luckily I haven't been sick again. Will be praying for you! Morning sickness is no fun!
ChamomileFriend 03-20-2007, 07:20 PM With ds#1 I was only sick until 12-13 weeks, with ds#2 I am still sick at 31wks and counting - it is miserable functioning at work like that but I know that when I see my baby's face it will all be worth it. I haven't thrown up in a few days but I still have to be reeeeeeally careful in the morning.
((((HUGS))))) get well soon weebles=) -ren
stephwhiz 03-20-2007, 09:43 PM Oh I'm sorry you're feeling so yucky! I'll be praying for you.
Godzgirl 03-20-2007, 10:08 PM Awww...i'm so sorry to hear about you feeling sick again. :( I was this way with my first. I had morning sickness with her for 6 months! Luckily with my second i only had morning sickness for 2 weeks.
MomFromCanada 03-20-2007, 11:41 PM I found I had sickness at first, went away and like you, it came back unfortunately. It always seemed like I was either gagging on or throwing up something. I also was sick in the middle of my pregnancy with the flu and lost 4 pounds. The only thing I could keep down was DQ milkshakes!
weedlewub 03-21-2007, 08:06 AM Thanks for all the kind words ladies. I am feeling slightly better today. I had figured out how to function when the morning sickness was so bad at first. But, over the last couple weeks it is like I have become a big baby all over again. I had to take a half-day yesterday. I'm scared to eat breakfast right now.
Ooohhhh and a DQ Milkshake sounds wonderful right now. That might be my post-lunch snack later :)
