What's in your purse?

A moment ago I answered a question on another thread and it brought this to mind. What is in your purse? My DH was always complaining because my purse was too big/heavy, so he bought me this tiny little thing for Christmas and spent an outrageous amount of money on it. Now I feel forced to use it, and am always looking for something that no longer fits in it.

My purse currently holds, a small makeup bag (this has small comb, compact, eye drops, and bandaids) then I have my wallet, hand sanitizer and a pack of gum. I hate that I can't fit anything else in it.

This is what my larger purse use to hold:

Small baggie of baby wipes
one diaper
hand sanitizer
my wallet
makeup bag with: (compact, comb, eye drops, bandaids, antibiotic cream, sewing kit & shout wipes)
small book for son to read
compact Bible
2 things of playdough

I use to be prepared for anything and often used all of the stuff in there. So, as a mom/wife, what do you currently carry in your purse and do you think what use to be in mine was extreme?

I wish I could say I carry a purse...prechild era I was purse obsessed.

You won't believe this but, my sister and I are of a very strange and RARE breed... we don't carry purses... never have, probably never will! When I see myself with a purse on, in the mirror or in a photo, I just look weird... and it just feels so unnatural!! I don't know what it is!

I carry a small diaper bag in my vehicle, in case I should need to change a diaper anywhere I go (the babies' diaper that is, ha!) and some wipes... but I never carry make up, brushes, anything like that...

And reading your posts now, I feel very... unprepared! Screw drivers! Whoda thunkit! That's actually a great idea! Especially if you know or hang around with people who wear glasses or somehting... you can just whip out that extra small one and say, "Here ya go!" That's great... :)

Seriously though... I do feel rather irrisponsible in not carrying things around with me... I hate wallets too... I usually just carry my ID and debit card with me everywhere...

I know... I'm weird..............

First off...the word "purse" grates me LOL I don't know what it is. I just don't like the sound of the word. Kind of like ... I can't even type it, I so hate the word ... p..a.. *underwear* don't make me say it, please don't make me say it!!! LOL

Now, I'm not much of a 'purse' carrier. Instead, I have a multi-purpose bag. I hate diaper bags too ;) The big bulky things themselves, not their name.

So, multi-purpose it is.
In it I tote:

a diaper or two

wipes

small bottle of hand lotion

germ x

Burt's Bees lip balm

my whatever that stuff is for cold sores, that I forgot the name, but it's a small thing so I keep it in my bag so I always know where it is..things tend to get lost in my bathroom

my wallet which never really even has any use with me, other than my drivers license hehe

when going to church the bag also contains a small toy and/or book for the baby and lately also holds a cup of water and some cheerios

and my camera LOL that's the main reason I now carry a bigger bag..just so I can tote my camera everywhere I go

oh yeah, and my phone and keys

several pens (I have to carry several as they always manage to disappear and I can't find one when I need one, so, a minimum of 3, often 6, no joke! LOL)

And that feels like a LOT to me. I never was a purse kinda gal. I packed my license, money (and in high school, my cigs) around in my pocket. Up until I had kids, I carried no bag. So now I get the smallest multi-purpose bag I can get by with, but that size has increased since my camera toting days began ;) But I'll remove baby cups, diapers and wipes to fit my camera if I must. The dipes will always be in the truck, no worries, right? ;)

Was it a really small screwdriver set? My dad used to have a tiny set in a pouch that was like 2" by 2" and fit about 3 little ones in there. That would be the kind I would stick in my purse if I'd thought of it, and sticking my leatherman in there might not be a bad idea either, hrmm...

Right now I have:

Metrocard (for riding public transportation)
wallet (that dh always says is overstuffed)
various papers for school - about our class trip, items to photocopy for the kids, etc...
I also usually put my lunch in there, so it fits a small tupperware container in the middle.

Just so you will all know, the screwdriver set is only about 4 inches long by 2 inches wide and has a detachable handle with 5 different screwdriver ends to put in it as needed. It has come in handy more times than you can count - and yes, it has one small enough to fix an eyeglass screw that is loose too!

So - there is your answer!

Hmmm... my wallet, a diaper, wipes, changing pad, breathsavers, chapstick, lotion, car keys, bum cream.. for the baby of course. female sanitary needs.... not that I've needed them since sept. 2005, pens, and I think that is all I carry.

This is sooo funny. Cause a few weeks ago I had took a purse to church no one had ever saw me with. I left it on accident. Didn't miss it. They kept it for two weeks! :shock: They finally realized it was mine...cause the purse had C's all over it. Shows how much I pay attention to where my purse is. They were like we tried to find out whose it was but, all we found in it was:

I never need my ID cause Dh is home five days a week now..so he drives. I never need a debit card...cause he has his wallet. So usually if I can't find the purse I used a few days before...I assume its in the car or in the closet and it's just easier for me to grab and re pack another one. So the above is what is usually in them. Give or take. Sometimes just a:

Well lets see I carry a all purpose back pack, I have a measuring tape, cell phone, pictures camera (zoom lens and flash included Never leave home without it), diapers, wipes, changes of baby clothes, sunglasses, bag with a snack, bandaids, migraine meds., extra set of keys, palm tx, pens , business cards, lip balm, and icecream coupons. (and probly 20 old reciepts that I should throw awy :lol:

Hmm...It's always clean :mrgreen: I have a bible, wallet, pen, face powder, lip gloss, work keys...that's it I usually have gum but ran out at work so kept it there :mrgreen:
