Do you have something under your car seat to protect the cloth interior in your car? If so, did you buy one made specifically for that or did you use something else (i.e. a towel)? If you don't use one, have you noticed any damage to the cloth interior?

I'm curious if we really need to buy something to protect the seats in the car.

I used an old shower curtain. It worked great!

I used a towel - works great especially on long trips when they get to eat in the car, I can just take the towel out and shake it; not as much a need to vacuum!

I found a blanket at Walmart that had fleece on one side and the other was vinyl. It was in the sporting goods/camping section and under $10. This way others can sit on the seat comfortably.

A very THIN towel is acceptable, so that it doesn't interfere with a solid install of the carseat. Nothing thick or slick though.

*car seat freak here ;)*

Oh and I've had my seats installed for years on cloth and now leather interiors..not a problem. No damage. The leather leaves dents for a bit, but they work out. No real *damage* though on either and I've never used anything under the carseats.
