I haven't done any real search yet on it, really hoping someone would know so I wouldn't have to google search lol is it okay to use spermicide when your menstrating and using divacup? We use otc contraceptives called vcfilms its a spermicide that disolves in you(been faithful for us for 9yrs now) but was wondering if it would hurt my divacup if after we dtd with the spermacide and then insert my divacup? I am not real sure if the spermicide will damage my divacup, does anyone know?

Edit it to say: that I do know the chances of conceiving is slim while menstrating but that's a chance I am not willing to take right now, I mean you just never know lol

i have no idea, you might call the divacup customer service and ask.

Does that mean you can have sex while the diva cup is in?

I guess you could if your husband was tiny enough, lol, but no, i think she was referring to putting it in immediately after sex (with residual spermicide). The divacup is not really practical for sex. i did read that some used the "instead" cup for sex, bc that sits right up on your cervix, but the divacup sits very low by comparison.

Bummer :(
I was hoping to be rid of the condoms. It's hard, I feel convicted not to prevent, but hubby does. We don't agree with any other type of contraception other than condoms (well hubby is the only one who agrees on that one). Also, I think because I often ovulate a couple of days after AF, it means I'm somewhat desperate[whatwacko] for sex the last couple days of AF. I thought maybe the cup might be an option. Oh well. Sorry if TMI.

A diaphragm serves the same purpose as a condom (barrier)... is there a reason you couldn't use those?

none of the cups (including instead) are for birth control...

I don't know. I've never looked into one. I assumed they weren't made anymore? As long as they don't cause miscarraige at all, it should be ok?
