Great thread Sara!
This weekend, my DH blessed me with time to read (he played with the kiddos so I could just relax Sunday afternoon). So, I finished Clive Cussler "Fire Ice" and started on Randy Alcorns "When Heaven Weeps" again. I've already read it once, but felt in the mood to read it again. I plan on finishing it on my lunch break today!
Love James Patterson by the way...wish they were a bit cleaner, but I have to admit I've read EVERYTHING he's ever written, same with Clive Cussler.
Probably will start in on something Ted Dekker or Frank Perreti this week. I'm feeling that spiritual warfare is the direction my reading will be taking right now.

Right now I am reading The Bourne Ultimatum. I read The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy already so I am looking forward to finishing the final book!
I'm currently reading a biography about Mary Slessor, she was a missionary to the jungles of Africa back in the 1800's. Very good book!

I'm reading one by Thomas Kinkade and Katherine Spencer (I think that is the second name on the book) called Home Song. It is the second in a series, the first is Cape Light. I enjoy it. I hope to have some reading time this weekend b/c it is due at the library this coming week!

I am reading a book called Deep Survival by Laurence Gonzales. It is a book about adventure seeking people, and why some live while others die and why. Very cool!

I am reading aloud a fantasy Christian based trilogy to the boys. It has dragons and the like in it. It is more along the lines of Lord of the Rings but not so gory and intense. More light hearted. I used to not like fantasy things when they were young, as I didn't want to confuse them. Give them a solid foundaton first. But now that they are older, they enjoy them so much. This ones gives credit to ONE God and His ONE son and all power and knowledge comes from Him. But there are different kinds of races and you get to know one little girl well, who is a dragon keeper. She hatches and cares for dragons. The dragons are good, but there are some bad. It is an evil verses good kind of thing, but also some parallels to the Christian walk and our battle with self and sin. They are called :
Dragon Spell
Dragon Quest
Dragon Knight
There was a day when the word spell would have automatically eliminated the book. But...well you would have to read it to understand. It is all based on knowledge God gives and enables. I STRESS that ANY witchcraft of the sort NOW in THIS life is WRONG and evil and abhorrent to God. So that is why I wouldn't likely read it to small children. But teens love it!

I am just starting The Jesus I Never Knew by Philip Yancey and also about half way through Babylon Rising: The Secret on Ararat.
I have heard about the Dragon series. I am so glad that you like them. DH is a big fan of fantasy and loves reading to the family. Right now we are on The Silver Chair of the Narnia series. Just want to clarify that the author of the dragon books is Donita K. Paul (NOT Jeff Sampson or Anjali Banerjee).

I just started reading 2,002 Surprising Things about God and the Bible. It was a book I saw yesterday and I thought it sounds neat, so I bought it. I started reading it last night and it is very interesting so far. There is so much I don't know and want to know that I thought this might shed some light--or at least it will be very interesting.

Oh i've heard of this book, is it good?
I think so. some may think it is a little extreme. But I can already see the difference it has made in me and my marriage! So for me that makes it a great study.

Yeah it looks good. I definetly want to read it. Have you ever read holy sex? I was thinking of getting that too.
I loved it. I do think some of her points are a little extreme, but I took a lot of great things from it and have already seen changes. No I have not read Holy Sex, but I want to get it. However I also read their book on child training. Called How to train up a child! I thought it was good also.

Yeah i've read some of the how to train up a child book. I did finish but liked what i read (very similar to the strong willed child book by Dr. James Dobson). My husband did read it all however and we have been using the concepts. We are also subsribed to their newsletter/magazine and they are awesome! Totally recommend them to anybody.
